The best gadget for a gadget lover?

Very possibly. Most definitely yes should you be a Star Wars fan. I have been looking at this product for over 10 months now and was extremely worried about the price tag. due to procrastination, I missed the opportunity to buy Artoo when Play had him at a reduced cost of £1500.00. Anyway I finally took the plunge three weeks ago and bought him for £1800.00. What swayed me was the fact that he was 2,700.00 Euros from the European distribution centre and whatsmore, out of stock. Anyway enough of my history, what is the unit like? Well put simply, best gadget/home entertainment system on the market. The features that are packed into this little unit are quite diverse. Today I played around a bit and managed to connect my blackberry (via USB) and play music and MP4 through him. Projection is fantastic and when you connect a Blue Ray into his bum, you do get true Blue ray quality projected onto your wall. Plugging in your games console (in my case the Wii) and playing Mario karts through him will never be the same again :) The reason why I did not give it a full 5 star is purely down to the R/C mode for me. I find a lag in depressing a command button to the unit actually following that command. i.e. turning left/right/forward/backward seems to have a slight over run. That said if you are like me, the R/C mode has limited appeal as I quickly get bored with R/C models. I have saved and saved and still gone a little into debt to purchase this unit.....but I can safely say it has all been worth it. If you are interested then do what you can to purchase this item, as I found Europe is often out of stock and their is a limited supply...............4000 I think (for Europe not sure World wide).
Did I say it is the best Gadget I have ever purchased? :)
amazing

I was wanting to buy this unit from day one but was unwilling to part with two grand for it ,so when play reduced the price to a affordable 1500 i thought why not,and i'm glad i did what a amazing product mainly use it to watch blu- ray films via ps3(amazing 80 ins cimema feel) and play games of course i must say the picture quality and sound from this unit are truely wonderful.
Thank you play and nikko for this is the best gadget i have ever bought and i have a few!!!

It is half size of a the real R2 D2 unit, can be good if you are short of space, but I would like to have full size one.
The projector is not HD and it's a DVD player and not a Blue-Ray player in it.
If they do an upgrade of this with better specs. It would be the best thing ever.
Instead of having the felling of a real R2D2 unit in your living room,
you get a £2K cool gadget that looks like R2D2.
It gets a 3 stars and they are all for the look and design.
R2D2 is the only show in town

I thought the idea of the r2d2 projector was good. I thought the online specs were mouth-watering. I thought the video footage was inspiring. But, nothing prepared me for just how good it is in person. What. A. Piece. Of. Kit!!!
Sell your granny and mortgage the cat - you won't regret it. If this is at all your cup of tea it will be the darjeeling of your gadget collection.
And please, people, stop saying it's not hd. The onboard dvd player isn't, but if you project from an external source you can get all but the full 1080p hd resolution. I've used my ps3 on it and (believe it or not) the projector actually handles 720p and 1080i better than ordinary pal output when i'm playing a fast moving game through it.
It looks fantastic - r2d2's design hasn't been compromised in order to fit in the gadgets and panels. Everything looks like r2d2 had been designed to carry it from scratch. If you look at it purely as an rc model of r2d2 you can't see the design being forced or notably changed in any way. Absolutely outstanding attention to detail.
There are better projectors for the price (but, it is surprisingly good all the same). There are better r2d2 remotes. But, there is no combination that could possibly match what has been achieved here (and at 1:2 scale).
If you can't get one, latch on to someone who has and see it in action. You will drool like a rancour.
wow

cant fault, ok maybe the lack of HD is annoying, as it seems to be advertised and a tad expensive. the picture quality is great, what an idea. although R2 tends to remain static once its all plugged in, becuase i'm too lazy to keep unplugging, the RC mode works well even on carpet, and it looks the business tucked between two sofas... but often used in the bedroom to project on the ceiling.
Good but not HD

I don't have one but my friend does... its a great little toy but for 2k i was expecting a HD projector. If you love star wars and are not bothered about HD then get this otherwise spend your 2k on an HD projector and watch your films in full 1080p splender instead of 480i on this little R2 unit!

I bought this elsewhere.
Easily the greates thing i have ever bought, so many functions and i honestly can't get enough of just making him drive around my flat.
I worked overtime for 3 months to buy this and every second as worth it.
There's a good video on the website showing all of it's functions perfectly. XD
Best Purchase ever.
