He he he he he! That's what I thought the first time I turned one of these on, I just couldn't help myself. For someone that was around to watch the original Star Wars at the cinema it's like having the perfect tool to regress back to childhood and I love it. If you're a Star Wars fan (regardless of your age) you've always wanted a 'real' lightsaber, even if you won't admit to it, this is as close as your going to get. The feel, the sound and the glow of the blade all as authentic as could be, with the added bonus of not accidentally hacking your own limbs off following some over-enthusiastic twirling!

I decided to get both the Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi versions because I didn't want them to be lonely. Plus 2 is always better than 1 and now I can do the whole dual-wielding thing too, which puts an even bigger grin on my face, especially in a pitch black room as these things give off so much light, it's just a dance of red, blue and purple (as the light mixes). The best £110 I've ever spent. I also have to point out here just how speedy the delivery was, the Darth Vader one turned up less than 24 hours after I'd clicked buy with the Obi-Wan Kenobi version following around 24 hours later. So both of them in less than 2 days, now that's what I call service.

Another thing to note here is that each Lightsaber only uses 3 'AA' batteries, so fairly economical to run too. Though you'll probably need to get a few spares because once you've used one of these you can't leave then alone. Whenever you have a couple of spare minutes 'Lightsabers' just pops into your mind. It truly is amazing how much joy a couple of fluorescent tubes can give you.

The only down sides I have are that the hilts are a little big but it does explain in the instructions that this is because of all the electrical gubbins they had to put into them. Also the Darth Vader lightsaber can be a little uncomfortable to hold with the Obi-Wan Kenobi much more hand friendly (especially for smaller hands).

But the biggest downside is that these prove that we could never be real Jedi's because when you're using them you just have the biggest Cheshire cat grin on your face constantly. How are you supposed to have an air of authority if you can't stop giggling every time you turn on your lightsaber?

If you can afford one buy one (and bear in mind that it wasn't so long ago that you would have had to shell out around £250 for one of these), if you can afford more buy more you won't regret it, I certainly haven't. Just deciding whether to get the Darth Maul version now!

Awsome. Totaly uncomfortable but its Darth Vaders LightSaber. sound effects are great, though i feel that the sound effects dont always respond first time when you hit or swing but that dont matter as its Darth Vaders LightSaber. I was lucky enough to get mine for the promotional price and though i would love another I guess i will need to keep an eye out for future promotions.

It seems that other reviews of the sabers all seem to show that they have different sounds even though its the same blade, this is probly because though the blades are the same the removable unit that does the sounds and motions are different and it seems that its luck of the draw if you get a good one. but at the end of the day its a Lightsaber with Dam good effects

Bought this item for my girlfriend for the this christmas so took it out of the box to check all was working right and take a look of course and was blown away. It lights up with all the right noises of a sith saber not a jedi saber, the handle is excellently detailed and the carbonate blade was well attached as to be expected.
First thing I did was hand off to my little brother, picked up my own Anakin Fx lightsaber and duel tested it (Anakin Vs Vader, had to be done). The blade seems to be very durable and the clash sounds are very realistic and the saber itself was here in two days so I was very impressed by both the product and the delivery provided by Play.

If you are reading this, you have probably already made up your mind about buying one of these. I guess its down to what lightsaber you want.
There is no difference in quality between the different versions, only the ascetical and personal preference that goes with any type of purchase.

The hilt feels heavy in your hand and it looks like a real lightsaber, the chrome gains a nice shine and the plastic doesn't detract from the feel at all.

When it powers up you are greeted with the original sounds from the movies, you feel like you are holding a real lightsaber, minus the solid beam of energy of course.

The price may be relatively high, however in terms of quality, this is worth the extra money instead of buying a £25 plastic one. It is a great conversation piece and while everyone may say "You spent that much!", secretly inside they will be thinking "I want one".

Before I conclude, I'd just like to make the note that these were originally made by a company called Master Replicas, but are now made by Hasbro and you may notice this when you research.

So if you have aspirations about being the next Darth Vader, or if you just like the colour red, this one is for you. Not to be missed.
Unleash your inner child (Jedi)!

A great toy for anyone who was disappointed by the original torch-and-plastic-tube Star Wars lightsabres from the 1970s. I'm glad that I waited until my 40s before buying this elegant
weapon! The handle is a beautifully crafted and weighty replica of Darth Vader's personal weapon. The blade glows a bright crimson and the sounds are wonderfully atmospheric. I turn mine on and find myself muttering "Your powers are weak, old man" as I whirl it around. My only criticism is that the speaker in the handle is a bit underpowered and weedy but this is a minor niggle. All in all, a great value replica for die-hard Star Wars fans and a good laugh for the rest of us.
