A pretty cool toy, but nothing amazing really.

This isn't nearly so complex as the Robosapien, it has no actual camera for example and it can't speak or play games, but it does detect distances via it's infra-red 'radar' very well and can just about navigate a room.
It's ability to circumnavigate carpets and uneven ground is far superior to many of it's brethren, but it doesn't have nearly as much feedback for obstacle collision, so if it's eyes can't 'see' it, it doesn't know it's there (problematic when it's walking backwards for example), and it still works best on a flat, even, uncarpeted, uncluttered, non slippy surface, so, in the bathroom, basically.
Nothing here in the way of actual game play value tho, beyond it's ability to wander about in a faux intelligent fashion for short periods, 'guard', or be programmed to do a set course of actions, it's basically just an RC toy that walks about, but non the less, it is pretty cool!
Do be warned tho, getting it out of it's packaging will require a sharp knife, a screwdriver, and a set of fairly good wire clippers, oh, and about 20 minutes before you get far enough into it to actually find the instructions of how to get into it. I would recommend you do this very carefully BEFORE giving it as a gift to a small child, then lightly stick it all back together, as otherwise they will either break it, hurt themselves, or cry in frustration trying to get to it, as it's no easy task even for an adult!

Good product but unless you have 4 rechargeable 'C' batteries and a charger able to charge 'C' batteries you better add £15 to the price. There is no excuse for a product costing £60 not to have an internal Li-poly battery. But hey, I guess it saves the manufactures a few pence per robot at our expense. Annoying.
