Laser Cosmos - Fantastic... Shame it didn't last

| | See all Orange86's reviews (1)

Like other's i read many reviews on this and thought it would be a great idea for my new born. At the time of purchase ( circa 18months ago) it was fantastic and despite it being a very simple idea/system (it's not all random). I read about the power times and that it being a laser product musn't be switched on for to long. So left it on for a maximum of an hour.

That being said 9 months down the line (and if i'm honest, it wasn't over used at all) The laser stopped working. I never got round to getting intouch with Play.com about this, they may have well offered me a refund or exchange?!

that being said, it's a fantastic product and is great to just relax to. However, due to the fact it only lasted 9 months i have to rate it 4 stars.

don't be put off by this review, it's just my experience.

I researched alot thinking it would be good. But the reviews are contray to what I expected.
It is a basic 'projector'
I thought the nebula would be in your face kind of like a hologram but please do not spend 95 - 100 pounds on this. It is worth 20 pounds max. It is distnictly average. I dont always write reviews and i love gadgets but please i stress don't buy this . I have an iphone and a star app is one hundred times more interesting and visual than this projector. And alot cheaper.
It does light up the room with hundreds of green dots but it is cheap looking/ loud / waste of money.

  Good at first

At first this gadget lived up to the hype, but soon the laser began to fail and after six months there is no star field at all. Only the blue clouds remain.

This is a really great projector but their are some down sides....the stars though granted are peaceful to watch... Are green....why this is i have no idea!....but last time i looked out at the stars at night they were white/yellow...could this have not been used?
The cloud formation can not be set as being on its own...as the stars can be...
Also the stars formation are very poor....
So this item is incredibly hyped....but none the less...you cant help but like it!
Do not pay silly amounts for it like i did...wait for it to go down to around 40....i could live with that more easily!
Peaceful motor on the fan...the projector itself is pretty big so do not expect a small unit...
Easy set up...great design....just not worth £99...
Fantastic for children who have night terrors....or people who are romantic at heart....me on the other hand will be sipping a glass of wine or beer depending on how lady like im feeling under the stars destressing after a hard day at work....
Its the closest i will ever get to being in space...enjoy...

good but overpriced and a little unrealistic...

Was really looking forward to seeing this in action - have been wanting one for weeks now...it is very good but because of all the over hype from other reviews i felt a little let down...i think it is over priced - £30 - 40 would be more realistic.the stars are green - why aren't they white - they would still show in a dark room???also the central stars move around in a grid formation which is not very realistic.that said still impressive in a very dark room but wait for the price to drop...

  Space in your face!

I saw this on another site for nearly £40 more. I showed my gf and told her I loved the idea but wouldn't pay that for it. I didn't have to - she'd already bought it and her review, written under The Minx, appears above. I have to say it's excellent. Relaxing under a canopy of gently gyrating stars with a glass of wine and a chill tune is the perfect way to relax. Yes, the shape is daft, but that's a minor gripe and the only thing I could fault.

As for the four-hour duration, I'm going to put a plug-in timer on it to save the laser.

Get one. You'll be impressed.

  what a gadget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our son is severely disabled and this christmas we were at a loss at what to get him. I browsed a lot of web sites looking for ideas and came across the laser cosmos. I read all the reviews and decuided to purchase it for him. None of us were disappointed! We can't wait for christmas day now to give it to our special boy! I know where we'll all be spending christmas night, in his bedroom under the stars!!!!!!

  Worth every penny!

I bought this for my father, who suffered a heart attack earlier in the year. After reading a review on the helpful effects the laser cosmos can have on aiding heart attack sufferers I had to buy this! I was wary on the price at first but then thought, as well as aiding health its one heck of a gizmo, its like star-trek in your own home!! I have seen over time my fathers become alot more relaxed and even I have after watching it. The fan is really quiet and overall I must say its money well spent. For anyone who buys one of these you'll have hours of fun, I vouch for it!!!!! :-), the Cat also loves it!!!!

We bought this for our disabled daughter as a piece of sensory equipment and it is excellent, excellent, excellent!!! Fills a big room with a fascinating and calming display of various sized green stars and galaxy effect clusters all of which move independently of each other and then along comes a shooting star! The blue nebula cloud effect can be adjusted from off to dim to really bright. Everyone has been blown away by this amazing bit of kit.
