This saber's been attracting quite a bit of attention as another Force FX special. The easiest way to sum it up is like this: If you don't already have a Force FX lightsaber, then this is brilliant.

A lot of reviews have said that the blade's too short and the single LED isn't enough to light up the blade. I personally don't see a problem with the blade, it's not noticably much shorter than the other lightsabers out there. During the day the single LED doesn't illuminate much of the blade, but at night, in a darkened room (where all the best lightsaber fights happen) it works just fine. The only gripe I really have about it is the build quality. I know people have been saying not much of it's metal and the parts are too loose but nothing can prepare you for how metal this isn't. The top part is metal and so is the bottom bit you screw on and that's it. The rest is creaky plastic. Even then I suppose the looseness isn't too bad, it's certainly bearable.

There are other lightsabers on the market for kids, made entirely from plastic and with a telescophic blade that when lit up looks like a Japanese ice cream cone. This kit is still much, much better than them, it's just not quite as good as the other Force FX lightsabers out there. My first Force FX was the Obi Wan saber from Episode 3 and its absolutely brilliant, top marks in every area but then it became rare and saught after and I didn't want to use it for duelling anymore, so it's now a display piece. I got this one thinking that I could duel with this, keep the Obi Wan one and never need another lightsaber. In theory I was right. All I'm saying is I've got my third lightsaber (Luke's from Episode IV) on order...

And that's the thing about this set: in theory it's still very, very good, it's just not as good as the other Force FX sabers out there. But you've got to remember NOTHING is as good as the other Force FX sabers out there. I'd say it's still worth the £50 price Play are asking because it's a great set. But when you consider the fact you can have a perfect replica of Luke's or Darth Vader's sabers for about £15 less, you've got to wonder why.
