This is really nice has a good weight in the handle not too light. The blade is quite durable (Smashed my room light with it) Multicolour blade is a nice feature. This is my first saber but there will be many more i love it even just building different handles is fun. Really nice for creating your own hilt for display.
Superb Value for Money

After seeing the mixed reviews of this set on play i decided i would take a chance and buy one anyway, after all its only £35 quid, and boy am i glad i did chance it. the set is awesome, and everything a star wars fan could want. Yes some of the parts are plastic but it still doesnt change the fact that with this you can create so many saber combinations and having the option to change the colour of the blade is just an added bonus. All in all its a quality set and master replicas just keep producing the goods! Take a chance and buy one. you'll be pleasantly surprised!
awsome saber

Ok so it has its down side its not as good as the standard force fx sabers, but the force fx sabers are no where near the quality of a parks saber or proper master replica hilts, £35 and you can have any number of sabers you could ever wish for. Got mine today quality as discribed in rest of reviews, could have been better but may be come a rare sort after box set in a few years, for the price play are selling at it really is a bargin.
What Great Value For Money...

As an owner of other FX Lightsabers I would agree with some of the other reviews that the feel of the plastic parts to the hilt and the less defined blade does not give the same quality feel as the other fixed type of sabers do. But my word the excellent color of the blade from each of the options and the fact that you can create your own hilt or some of the classics is a great touch. I would hate to think what it would of cost if it had all been metal parts, thanks FX. If you can't choose which one of the range to get, then this one as you'll get most of them...
An enthusiast's dream

The first thing to remember is that this kit is an entirely different product from first principles upwards compared to the other Force FX sabers. Yes it has plastic (and metal!) parts, and a short blade. Some sacrifices are necessary for the astonishing versatility of this kit at this very reasonable price. Come on, over a thousand hilt combinations, three blade colours and two sound schemes? Vader, Luke, Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan in the same package? Nobody can expect perfection at £50.
Problems, yes. The plastic parts can feel a bit loose, but that is easily solved by putting a couple of strips of sticky tape down the outside of the central core. The big problem for me was the blade. It is 5" shorter than the other FX's and doesn't glow too well, especially in daylight - the bottom half is a lot brighter than the top. If you have any DIY inclinations, a full length aftermarket mod blade with a fiber optic film core will transform this kit instantly. The three-colour LED and 2-tone sound card present an interesting challenge to the DIY-er. Purple, pink, yellow, orange and cyan blades with jedi or sith sound fx are all accessible with your soldering iron - search youtube and the hobbyist forums. That's without even considering the sinktube possibilities.
In original condition, you will need to weigh up the pros and cons of this saber. It does feel more like a gadget than a serious collectable. But if you are willing to get your hands dirty and have some skill in electronics, this is definately the saber for you.
Such A Shame

Build your own lightsaber? Sounds very tempting right?
Considering MR's have done a grand job with the FX range you would feel confident that this would be a great piece of kit...sadly it falls way short of the standard they are known for.
Firstly being able to change the colour to either Red, Blue or Green is a great touch and to be fair when you switch the colour over it does without any trouble. However the actual light is very weak. What I mean by this is the light only has enough strength to power around half the lightsaber and even when you dim the lights it makes it look worse. I'm not sure whay MR decided to use this but they should of stuck with how they powered the FX lightsabers.
Next is the actual parts where you can customise your lightsaber. Some are metal and some are plastic, now I'm sure every here would rather have them be all consistent and to be fair I would of glady paid more for having each part of the kit in solid metal. Also another negative is that when you do finally construct your lightsaber all of the parts that fit on it are loose and feel really tacky. Again its another shame on MR.
If you have been a fan of the FX range then my advice would be to steer well clear of this particular one and hopefully we can all forget about it as it's by far the worst one created but one that had the most potential to be the greatest.
Largely disappointing

I bought one of the Obi Wan Lightsabers and was immensely please, five stars all round. Seeing this I loved the oppurtunity to have my own lightsaber and choose it's colour whenever...unfortunately, it lives up to no promise.
The blade is significantly shorter than any other lightsaber bar Yoda's, and feels more plasticy and weak in it's construction. The hilt doesn't connect properly and twists and creaks when holding, feeling very tacky and never like a solid grip (like the other metal Force FX sabers).
On examining the remaining pieces, they were found to be plastic as well, some even hollow it seems.
The sound and glow is no-where even close to being as loud/bright as the others in the series, finalising a very disappointing product.
Master Replicas have been excelling themselves up till now, why this one fell flat in design I will never know.
Poor

Got one of these, without excessive expectations but it didn't even live up to those. 2 LEDs didn't work at all, which would be an annoyance but that's all, I'd have had it swapped. The parts were plastic and loose, so rattled and squirmed when held. Feels cheap and nasty, unlike their other products which I recommend.
Good Value?

If you want the best Quality Blade available, get Darth Mauls. Whilst this saber is not as good quality as the Dedicated ones, I think it is good value for what it is. Advantage 1. If you can afford only one, this can be made into any of 3 originals, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker mk1 or mk2, all with the correct colour blade(blade is 12cm shorter than standard Sabers). By mixing the parts you can also make your own unique Sabre. Advantage 2. The single LED is more durable than the multiple ones in the dedicated blades, so less likely to break in combat. It may even be possible that if one colour fails, the others may still work. Advantage 3. The On/Off switch needs a solid press to make work, so less likely to accidently switch off whilst using than dedicated Blades (except Darth Mauls). Disadvantage 1. Once built, the Handle components tend to be slightly loose on the Shaft, giving it a poor feel. I solved this by putting a few strips of Electrical Insulation Tape down the Shaft to make the components fit tighter. Disadvantage 2. Blade is brighter at the Handle but dims significantly towards the tip compared to dedicated Sabers & does not Power up/Down like they do due to it only having a single LED. Disadvantage 3. No connecter to make a Double Headed Saber like Darth Mauls. The shaft is also slightly thinner than DMs so you cannot use a spare connector from that one to join two of these.
