Star Wars: R2-D2 Projection Alarm Clock

First and foremost, do not buy this if you want something to tell the time.

The projection feature only works when the alarm sounds or when you hit the demo button on the body, it's not a constant. As such, you're left with a digital display smaller than most modern wrist watches, which is not backlit. In addition, and contrary to the misleading picture, even if you can get the dodgy projection focus right (at a distance of two feet at most), R2's head does not swivel, meaning he's left facing a wall. Hardly the optimum display angle.

The little bleeps are entertaining enough and the design is faithful, though there are better representations out there and the construction is unmistakably the lightest, cheapest plastic.

At £18 it's hard to recommend this. It's useless as a timepiece and only passable as a figurine. One for die-hard fans looking for novelty value only.

Great little clock. Lots of feauters, keeps the time well, very loud.

This is a fantastic little R2 Yes the clock is small and a bit crappy.( but you probably like me arnt buying it for the clock) but the projection works well i got the clock display on the bedroom ceiling which is projects the time so the time is about a foot long @ 7 ft . the R2d2 sound effects are really cool ! well worth £15 nicker

I have had mine for 12 months now, as stated, it is pretty awful as a clock, the time piece is similar in size to the 80's digital watches we had when we were kids, the display is so small as to make it difficult to see at distance. The buttons on the front are hit and miss, you have to press in the precise middle of the button with the right pressure or it will not work, making mistakes in time setting and alarm setting easy to achieve. Saying that, the time keeping is excellent, the alarm, R2's trade mark beeps, is extremely load and would wake anybody up from the deepest sleep. The projection display only works while the alarm is sounding, so don't expect that to work all the time. The quality and attention to detail is very good, all the detail is there but sadly the dome does not rotate, that would have been a nice touch to make this more authentic. This item is best bought as a model / display piece as it does look very good in that respect, but as a clock? No.

While this was slightly smaller than expected its a great gift for a Star Wars fan. My son loves it and the sound effects are great. Clock is very small though so not good if you have eyesight problems.
Fun present and I'm very happy with it especially as I nearly bought it at £24.99 from a well known store!
