  Very good for the price

One of the main things that other reviewers have complained about is that its not metal. Have these people seen the price of metal replicas of lightsabers, even scaled down versions. For around 10 quid or sometimes even less, these look brilliant, my sons love them and they work fairly well as torches. For fancy dress these look just as good and often better than others costing a fortune, and so what they can't cut through 60cm thick steel or rampaging Sith lords, for this price, given the excellent construction and the fact its life size, I can forgive its only real failing.
If you happen to have a two and a half cm thick and seventy cm long length of cylindrical semi transparent perspex, an artistic and diy talent plus a desire for the nearest thing to realism outside Industrial Light and Magic, I dare say you could make a pretty good Light saber in fully energized glory. Might even give it a go myself if the boys ever get bored with it, though thats not likely.

  brilliant and amazing value

Much better then I thought it would be.
Work well as a torch & a toy.
The only reason I don't give 5 stars is it is a little bit plasticity.
But otherwise - Brill!

  great torch!

I bought this torch for my 7 year old son as a stocking filler, and he loves it. I can see why some reviewers have felt a little let down by it because it is plastic, (but aren't most torches?), but i think for the younger star wars fan it is a great buy.

  Light up the Dark side

As a kid of the late 70's we used to play with old torches, pretending they were lightsabers. This is a lightsaber that's actually a torch, with sounds effects, which is pretty cool. It makes a great display piece also (I dismanteled mine and gave it a proper metallic respray). Yes it is plastic, most torches are, but you're paying for the iconic Star Wars styling and for well under a tenner you won't find a better replica piece.

i think that this torch is great. cheap but quality. my only problem was my package appeared to have been used as a football by my postman and his friends.

  Seriously, it's a torch

| | See all OldLiberty's reviews (53)

No disrespect to the other two reviewers, but this torch is a good item for the price. Eight pounds, and for that you get a replica saber hilt, a sound effect and a good light from the torch. Not sure how many torches everyone has bought that are metal, it's a minority I'd say.

If you want a metal replica of any sort, you are talking a lot more than the price of this torch, even at rrp. The scaled Master Replica hilts cost a great deal more and are less than half the size, have no sound effect or light.

If you want a pretty good looking replica that's a torch, this is for you. If you want a full sized replica that's metal, spend a hundred or so more. If you want an ordinary torch, go to Wickes! But seriously, what do you expect for eight pounds, including postage?

  It's plastic !!!!

What a disapointment. Photo makes this item look like it has a metal hilt, it does not.
It's a toy, not made clear in discription.

plastic torch more for the younger fan

| | See all shalini's reviews (6)

Given that there was no spec on the material used in the torch construction i:e plastic or light metal alloy i thought i would give this a go, sadly for me it is made of plastic which takes the edge of this saber, however the sound that is produced when you turn it on and off slightly compensates. The four blue led lights are quite bright,
Over all the saber feels very light, has cool sounds but better suited to a younger fan
