  Great hammock, awful rope

| | See all ChequeredPenguin's reviews (1)

The hammock itself is great. It clearly won't be in the same league as a larger, thicker, and weightier hammock, being quite narrow and made of light materials, but is wonderfully portable (I took it in hand luggage to sunnier climbs and it is a little larger than two pairs of ski socks). Also on the positive side, this is one of the few portable / stowaway products which actually folds up easily and tightly as small, if not smaller, as the package it came in.
However, beware the end ropes/lines, I had tied one up to a tree, looped through another rope so not chaffing on anything, and on third use it promptly snapped. The hammock had been removed from the bag once, and tied up twice. So - word to the wise, replace the green end lines, or at least tie a safety line to them. As you can imagine, landing on your back on the ground is unpleasant at best.
Oh, and I weigh just under 11 stone / 65 kilos, which is a little over half the hammock's rated load capacity.

  Great!!!

Lieing in it right now between 2 trees. Dead comfy and for 4 quid go for it. Its a bit awkward to get in to but still. Love it. A good place to put it is on a swing set between meatl bars at either end. :)

The 2nd day using this the nylon rope snapped (not even at the knots). I had been laid still in it for about an hour and I weigh about 10 stone. I'm going to replace the ropes and still use it as the main section is strong and comfy plus it's only a fiver, but I'd advise pretty much everyone to replace the nylon ropes.

  Cannot fault

Added my own climbing rope to replace the nylon used to secure the hammock but this was a matter of choice. Extremely comfortable and great for warm afternoons.

Brilliant for a fiver! Really strong and folds away into the wee bag. Great to travel about with as it's so light. Will be taking this on holiday for sure.

difficult to find 2 trees that are the right width apart but when you do it is so worth it! We put it up on the beach and it was really relaxing. Really comfortable and strong considering how cheap it is.
