Bowser has once again kidnapped Princess Peach, but this time, Mario has another objective. The Mushroom Kingdom is bursting with more gold coins than before.

Each level is littered with gold as coins rain down from overhead pipes, trails of coins are left behind special gold enemies and gold pipes transport Mario into coin-filled caverns. It's up to players to collect as many coins as possible throughout their adventure.

  • Please Note: 3DS titles are not compatible with standard Nintendo DS console
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 is an all-new side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario and Luigi. Two players who each own the game will have the option to play the entire game in two-player multiplayer mode using local wireless.
  • The game records all the coins players collect throughout the game, so completing a level is only part of the fun. Every level is filled with golden opportunities, such as gold rings that turn enemies into valuable gold versions and a Gold Flower that gives Mario the ability to turn almost anything in his path into coins.
  • Coin Rush Mode allows players to collect as many coins as possible across three levels and challenge friends to beat their record via StreetPass.
  • The return of Raccoon Mario gives Mario the ability to fly and access hidden areas

Pretty much the same as ...

the first one as the previous review says lacks mini games - it does look sharper than the previous game with a better soundtrack. The collect as many coins as you can so you can be on a wordwide leader board gets boring quickly and you just want to complete the level. There are going to be some download content that you can buy for the game but again you have to BUY it and it is not free - as of yet there is nothing to be purchesed. If you had never played the previous edition for the DS you will enjoy - if you did play it you will ironically feel short changed even though the object of the game is to collect as many gold coins as possible. Still worth a place in your collection to keep you entertained until Luigis Mansion 2 and Paper Mario 2 are released later this year.

 Fun,but slightly disappointing

Purchased this at midnight on the day of release, its very similar to new super mario bros 1 however lacks any mini games at all, which I feel is a major let down, other users cant even join in via download play. However I do like that you can play in co-op mode to complete the game with 1 other person, however again, its not possible to do through download play, both people must have a copy of the game.

All in all,not a bad game, but let down on the multi user function

This is my favourite game on the system and whilst it may be more of the same, its the most fun experience so far on the 3ds

 very familar

The main issue i have is why is it on 3ds and not ds?.. The 3d is of no use at all, surely this game would have been better and sold more on ds? Anyway its typical Mario stuff, good graphics, jolly music, lots of secrets and a good co op mode. More stuff to come via download which is either good or cheeky depending on your view. Still worth 4 stars as its slick and fun but it is VERY similar to new super mario bros 1.
