See the world through the eyes of a Pokémon and step into an adventure full of mystery in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness for Nintendo DS.

When you wake up in a strange land to find you've turned into a Pokémon, there are bound to be a few questions on your mind - questions that can only be answered by setting off on an epic journey of discovery. Along the way, you'll embark on missions to retrieve lost items, hunt for outlaws and get caught up in the search for a precious artefact stolen by a time-travelling Pokémon!

Of course, for a quest so challenging you'll have to recruit some help. Building an Exploration Team of trusty Pokémon to travel by your side through dangerous dungeons will be vital to your survival. And don't forget to get your team in training before you embark on a new mission - teaching them the skills they'll need to secure victory in the many Pokémon battles ahead!

With danger lurking at every turn, you might need a little more assistance than your sidekicks can provide. Thankfully, the Friend Rescue function in Explorers of Darkness lets you send SOS messages via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to one of your friends who has either Explorers of Darkness or Explorers of Time. So if you faint in a dungeon, just send a cry for help wirelessly to your buddy and sit tight!

As you wait to be saved, you'll be able to stay busy by going on a Standby Adventure and returning to previously visited dungeons. And if you're the one rescuing a friend, you'll have 10 attempts to save that friend - and a reward to look forward to if you succeed!
  • Determine which Pokémon you are by taking a personality test and assemble an Exploration Team to lead through huge randomly generated dungeons
  • Use the Friend Rescue function to call on your friends for help or trade items via local wireless connection
  • Build up the strengths of your Exploration Team as you win battles against rival Pokémon and attempt to save the world

I was a bit weery of buying this game at first but i read the reviews and it sounded good. I only just recieved it today but i havent put it down yet. At the start of the game you answer questions to determine which pokemon you are and you get to pick a companion :D What's good about this game is that it's different to Diamond & Pearl, your a pokemon and set up an exploration team, thats what i love about it. I definitely recommend this game if your a pokemon fan.

way better than the first one

I think I preferred it when Pokemon couldn't speak :)

I found it a bit boring compared to other pokemon games which is why I found it easy to put down and not pick up for ages even though I know I should make the effort.

I didn't enjoy being a pokemon as I couldn't control any of my fellow pokemons moves. The dungeon missions are pretty repetitive with bits of vaguely interesting storyline in between.

The adventure is dominated by inane dialogue which you have to click or tap your way through. So you can imagine how frustrating it is when the conversation consists of: "Shall we go? (tap) Yes let's! (tap) Ok! (tap) Off we go then! (tap) Yay! (tap) Whoopee! etc..." I found myself clicking through and not bothering to read half of it.

There isn't enough variety of activities compared with other pokemon games. I would recommend Diamond/Pearl, Ranger or any of the GBA games instead. 2 stars with an extra one for trying to be different.

That game was amazing... Didn't had all 493 pokemon but it's fine... =)
I even recruited my favourite pokemon! Lugia.
