 A worthy Remake

I am a huge Mortal Kombat fan, i have completed almost every single Mortal Kombat game (still working on Armageddon). This is an almost exact remake of the Ultimate Mortal Kombat that was on almost every console of the era. Where the first game was good, and this is a decent rendition, it has to put up with some out-dated aspects.

The most annoying thing about it is there is only one mode of play. Just one, arcade mode, that is it. You are plunged straight into a battle without prior knowledge of controls, no tutorial, no practise mode, nothing else. Making the first few run throughs a constant death annoyance.

However, for fans of the series, it is perfect, and if you are willing to put up with the constant streams of deaths while you work out some decent combo's and special moves to use, it becomes a respectable beat 'em up game.

Puzzle Kombat is something the original did not have, which is pretty much a remake of the old game 'Columns', except with 'cutesie' little avatars of famous Mortal Kombat characters. However, it is long....very long, tediously long. And there are three rounds per game...

Reccomended to true retro game players, and those with a long attention span. Not reccomended to anyone else.

 Serious fighting

This is a top dog game, the controls are so simple and the gameplay is swift and agile.
The classic is back and it's quality the graphics is good and the details on the characters is even better it's a must have especially if someone else you know has got the game 'cause that's when the real fun begins.
Ladies & Gentlemen ultimate Mortal Kombat is a really good beat 'em up and if you purchase this item it will be money well spent!

I am a huge Mortal Kombat Fan, have been since the first ever MK. and yes this game did impress me.

yes their is no practice mode, but their never was a practice mode on the classics, you just hadda go out their and find the moves yourself! whereas while playing, not only does it have a list of all your special moves, it has the combinations to fatalities, just find the right distance and type it in fast, and enjoy the show.

the animation is nice smooth and clear due to it being a smaller resolution than a TV.

and when you get bored, just play the mini game, or just play with your friends! as they don't need the game to play.

recommended for all mk and beat em up fans.

The best beat-em-up you get for the DS at the moment!

I have been a Mortal Kombat fan since the beginning many years ago. For me Mortal Kombat 2 which I own on the SNES is best out of all the 2d versions. Ulitmate Mortal Kombat is Mortal Kombat 3 with extra knobs added onto it. The main thing that lets this game down as was the same with Mortal Kombat 3 is that the computer is as hard as nails even on easy.
The best bits are you can play against your friends with just one game card and play online too. I also enjoy playing Puzzle Kombat by myself or with others too. On the top screen you have a display your characters special and finishing moves which comes in handy. Overall this is a very good fighting game for the ds and if it was a copy of the superior Mortal Kombat 2 with extras then it would have been even better, nevermind maybe next time if we are lucky.

 its ok but read this..............

Mortal kombat for the ds is quite good - and the puzzle kombat is a great extra game, however there is a problem the programmers messed up and you cant actually get past the first true boss montaro, however good you are!
There is some hidden charactors for you to unlock which is fun and the link games are great to play with friends, i would love to complete this game, but it is impossible.
Not bad, few bugs.
