5 Simply awesome!Gingera | 29/09/2007 | See all Gingera's reviews (1)First of all I am a massive fan of pro evo, and have probably only had two or three matches on a Fifa game in my life...Until now! Football games on the DS are usually (In my opinion) pretty basic, and hard to control with the limited D pad. They also tend to be very arcadey and often lack any feeling of control over your team. I have Pro evo 6 on the DS and I found this OK. But in my mission to find the ultimate footy game for nintendo's perfect handheld I decided to take the plunge and sample a Fifa game. And sweet lord how pleased I am that I did! This game is Awesome. The graphics are great, with players that have actual faces (Unlike the blocky clones of DS pro evo) and great effects like falling rain and snow. The animation of the teams is top and they move dodge and strike the ball superbly. the sound is fantastic with full commentry and great stadium sfx. But above all else is how well this game plays. I was blown away by the feeling of control over the players, they do exactly what you command. shimmying past opponents, passing accurately and meeting through balls exactyly. Striking the ball is also a joy, and the great game engine means anything could happen, and this leads to some wonderful realistic results. In my few matches so far I have scored long range goals, headed goals, and overhead attempts! The ball clangs off the crossbar, rebounds off other players and the unpredictable AI means own goals and goalkeeper fumbles are also a possibility. In short the physics are perfect. There are also a great range of options too, with all the cups and leagues you could desire. The bottom line is that this game is great fun to play, with total team control and a realistic feel only so far seen on the bigger console versions. I was shocked by it because it is a game that should simply not be possible on the DS. But it is. So run out and buy this little gem right now!
