Pokemon: HeartGold Version (includes Pokéwalker)

Back in the day, I was a huge Pokemon fan. Cards, Tv Show, Games and toys. Anything to do with Pokemon I loved. I've played every traditional Pokemon game, and whilst I thought Diamond/Pearl were good, they really do feel like a dry run for this excellent game. A remake of the classic game boy colour Gold/Silver games, it's Johto and Kanto in one big package. (The gold silver worlds then the Red Blue world.) The fact that this game has sixteen badges and over 400 pokemon shows that it's got a good lifespan. The graphics are great and the tried and tested formula still works today. A lot of changes from the Gold/Silver games, so if you're thinking that they are a straight port you'd be wrong. It's really got me back into Pokemon. Loads to catch, loads to do. Great game. A must buy if you've ever got any enjoyment out of a Pokemon game.

If you are an avid as a Pokemon fan as I am I believe that this game is an absolute must buy.

In my opinion, Gold and Silver were the best games in the Pokemon franchise, and now that they have been re-vamped, they are better then ever. The story line is pretty much the same as the Gold and Silver series, but has had a few mior tweaks to make it all the more better. The use of the touch screen is alot more prevalent in this game then in the others'. Used for the menu, it is not at all hard to get used to, and even if you don't like this feature, you can still use he control pad to navigate through the menu.

The graphics are brilliant, especially on some particular moments of the game, and the Pokemon have been given new animations, the whole game is alot more 3D.

Featurwise, there is so much more to do in HG + SS, with regards to a new Safari Zone, and a particuarly addictive game in Goldenrod city. The phone function that was originally in Silver and Gold, comes in particuarly handy, especially when you want to check on the progress of Pokemon you have left in the Day Care Centre. I would say more but I don't want to ruin the game for all you potential buyers ha!

Furthermore, the game is slightly harder then the rest, and is more of a challenge, instead of going through the games easily, which don't get me wrong doesn't not make them enjoyable, but it is alot more interesting to complete with that extra length challenge.

In my opinion, this game is WELL worth the money, and I would greatly recommend it to any Pokemaniac,

As far as Pokemon games on the DS go, Platinum is still the best. Having said that, it felt a bit alien due to the lack of 1st and 2nd generation pokemon present in its regions, they were mainly Sinnoh-specific inhabiting the game.

Heart Gold is a very enjoyable game, but it has several (some quite annoying) faults. Like every other franchise these days, the game has been dumbed-down and the difficulty reduced quite considerably. The lack of viable training areas you can utilise is incredibly frustrating; you'll always be within 1-2 levels of Gym Leaders if you have a full party. This was never an issue in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum due to the introduction of the Vs. Seeker which allowed you to battle trainers again with higher level pokemon.

The sheer shortness of the Kanto region is also deeply disappointing. It literally is just Gym battles which you'll finish in a couple of hours.

It's a good game though, if you're a Pokemon fan then you're gonna buy it. If you've played the first games on the GBA and the initial forays into the Johto region were good, then this delivers. The updated graphics and new touch-screen adapted gameplay will please.

The best thing about this game is (it really is) that the pokemon who's first in your party will follow your character's avatar around the actual game-world. Every pokemon has a sprite, some bigger than others - Ho-oh's for example is much bigger than say, Gastly's.

I much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much better then the one that use to be out on the gameboy advance back between 2000 and 2008 you can do more stuff on this one and i give it 100/100 becasue it such a good ds game.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game. I mean who wouldnt want their favorite pokemon following them around, and theres 16 badges to get and an extra region. But they've done so much wrong which made it feel restricted as to what pokemon you can get. For example, the item that makes rhydon evolve isnt available until the very end of your journey. Also there aren't enough of the johto exclusive pokemon available, i found myself with the same old team with the exception of the starter, a gyrados, rhydon, crobat and a typhlosion. The thing that really gets me is how they've completely ruined the safari zone, who wants to chop and change around and mess around putting items in it then waiting for days to be able to catch a pokemon? No one. And worst of all theyve made my favourite pokemon fall victim to this waiting, and thats skorupi. Ive played through the original of this game so it doesnt really feel all that new anyways, it's also too easy. It probably would be alot better if i hadn't played the originals though. But nope, im sticking to platinum, its a far better game, more challenging and better systems for everything, not to mention getting a skorupi early-ish! :D
