Lets not beat around the bush, OoT back in 1998 was groundbreaking, earths shattering and simply phenomenal. Now it's probably less of those things but with the added 3D perception and improved textures it's still one of the most memorable and most epic experienes for the action adventure genre.
Lets for 1 minute forget that OoT even existed before and treat it as a new game. The game is strcutured in a similar way to older adventure games..go to new area, beat boss and progress. Only this timethey've added an overworld for this and towns that people actually live in for you to interact with. On top of this the dungeons are very creative, very well paced and have some amazing boss levels. Music is also really well done with some catchy Ocarina tunes that you will play over and over again.
The games scope is smaller in this day and age but it's on a handheld so you don't lose that epic scale of the world. The controls are fluid and the game runs much smoother than the original N64 version, in fact the game has some added features such as Boss Select and a Mirrored Master Quest mode.
This is simply put the best 3DS game out so far and even though it's not saying much it's the game that a lot of people bought the 3DS for initially. The 3D effects actually are the most impressive for this system, they give a depth like most of the othergames but also help enhance the scope of the world when you are exploring.
My message is for people who haven't played Ocarina of Time....please...please try this game out. Unfortunately you will never exeprience what so many people did back in 1998 but even today this game is stil relevant and can still proivide a magic feeling that most other games are just incapable of.
My Biased OoT fanboy heart says 10/10 5 stars but my honest objective critical head says 9/10 but still 5 stars since it's rounded up :P
I remember playing The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on the N64 back in 1998 and being blown away by it and now the game has blown me away again with it's amazing 3d graphics which are a big improvement over the old N64 version. The way in which the story unfolds and the play area in which you explore is just so epic. Ocarina Of Time really was a ground breaking game ahead of it's time and even now it plays better then most games which get produced by the lorry load. The swing slot is controlled by moving the Nintendo 3DS system and works very well indeed. The touch screen controls for all the different menus is very user friendly and quick to use. The boss fights are very impressive and pretty challenging later on that can be a bit frustrating at times. The music is very catchy and I sometimes find myself tapping my foot. Playing the Ocarina has always felt a bit magical to me for some reason and riding your horse Epona feels realistic and is great fun. I thought to myself that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii was the better game but after playing this game again on the 3ds I'm not so sure. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is one of the few games which lead the way for many to follow on so many levels and thats why this game has stood the test of time with flying colours.
i know this will be amazing its the best game of all time. its just a shame i can't play it as play.com are yet to deliver it a week after they claim they dispatched it. it's a shame this terrible service is already tainting my experience with zelda.
I bought the nintendo 3ds just for this game and i was glad i did. The whole game is completly in 3d although i didnt play the game in 3d all the way through as i felt it hurt my eyes after a while although at times i thought stuff it as the scenery/cut scenes were so good! even in the normal 2d mode the game is a lot sharper - making the graphics fantastic.
Zelda OoT is also a huge game - i feel with certain nintendo ds games the games are small, making them quick and easy to complete, however with this game there are probably about 12 dungeons and a million different side quests to complete.
The game is excalty the same as the N64 but after you complete the game, you unlock a master quest (a harder version with certain things back to front).
All in All, a fantastic game, definelty worth the money. Shame the game hurt my eyes after a while but even the 2d version is immense.... A must have!!!! Buy NOW!!!
I am a fan of the N64 original and bought this in the hope that it would be close in terms of scale and gameplay. I must say the visuals and 3d on this are superb and the gameplay even more compelling. I've played all the 3DS games and this is by far the best. Buy.
