When I got this game i was thinking that it was going to be a waste of time... BUT I WAS WRONG. This is one of the best games for the DS of all times. Well the graphics are not brilliant but it's well worth the money.
Just what i've been waiting for - well worth the money!

First off i'm quite familiar with the 40k games, and this is basicaly a more enjoyable version of Chaos Gate.
It's simply a great game; relatively hard campaign, good use of things like cover and it gives each unit strengths and weaknesses. The graphics arn't bad at all, and the environment is destructible - as long as you avoid using the stylus the controls are fine.
the micro management is cool, too. You get to decide the weapons and ammo of each unit before deployment. However i think it is a missed oppertunity that they didn't give you the choice of what units you use before each mission. they could have introduced a cost-based system and let you decide whether you want two Terminators and a Land Speeder or 5 Marines, for example.
But the ting i like most is how it gives you tactical freedom in each mission, and the game makes you feel like you are really in charge and makes you care for every unit. personally, i restart the mission if i lose a guy - but that was bloody hard so i don't recommend it. Multiplayer is also good, i use single card play with my friend and it really pits you against eachother.
To Sum Up - Buy It, i'ts my favourite DS game so far, and well worth a tenner!
Pretty Good !

This is pretty much the only DS game I've found myself enjoying alot. First off, it's a turn based isometric view game where you control 40K units on various missions.
(Advise you read up on the Games Workshop 40K )
Graphically it's ok, not as good as many games. Audio is ok and has some fun sounds. Gameplay on single player is pretty good as it does take up alot of time and you kind of do get into it a bit. Online play isn't amazing as it's hard to find a game and you'll get beat anyway ;-). One big downside is the lack of hotseat type game as you're stuck to the missions so you'll need to start multiplayer or online to enjoy fully. From alot of the reviews they did moan about the controls, there is a tendency to accidentally send all your troops to one location and then tempt chucking the DS off a wall, but if you just remember to use the shoulder button (Switch unit) and never click on the centre of a unit you should be ok.
Overall the game is fun and I hope they bring out some more with extra units and races to play , then double the mission numbers and add in more game modes, then spark up the graphics a bit.
8/10
If you like Turn based , take your time and think, have fun games. Less if you want hardcore frantic action.
Great if you like this sort of thing

Did you play REBBLESTAR on the 48K Spectrum?
DId you play Laser Squad on the same?
To me they were the best games made for the spectrum ever.
Do you like Laser Squad Nemesis on the PC?
SC is in the same vain, but with an ever so slightly 'arcade feel'. Games take around 1/2 to 1hr to complete (may take a few tries). Excellent play value then. Up to level 11 so far. I paricularly enjoy the sound effects which make it complete.
downside: the computer oponent is a bit hesitant and predictable (as with any AI unfortunately), but can 'play mean' now and again.
Not tried the online playing yet.

I am a big fan of the 40k universe having played all the table top games and now owning all the computer games, however as good as dark crusade and dawn of war are, this game is equally bad. The graphics do not do the DS justice (you know it can do better much better, you have seen it), and the touch screen part of the game is pointless, I gave up after half an hour of trying.
That said I am not going to give up on the game I will see it through to the end but I am in no hurry to return to it.
