A strategy RPG for fans of the genre

| | See all StardustRay's reviews (1)

This is a fun and addictive game for anyone who enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The battle system is fairly simple, with set character classes and skills which are learned by levelling up.
The story is standard RPG fare, but has nice quirks to keep you interested. I liked the 'intermission' feature, where you talk to allies after battles and increase your friendship (and battle performance) with them.
One minor complaint is the voice acting, which at times is quite funny, but often verges on annoying. Also once you're used to the game, it becomes a little repetitive.
Overall, if you like strategy RPG, try this game!

Top 100 Games Reviewer

If you're a fan of SRPG games (like me), then you will instantly enjoy this game.

Firsty the graphics are actually nice when you consider that they are on a DS, The introduction, while being typically Japanese is really nice.

Voices are present in this game as well, not in every scene however but they are included in the most important ones throughout the game which is fine in my books. Also the dub voices are actually not that bad in this game.

The actual gameplay mechanic is fluid with you commanding your army of people to achieve certain objectives outlined to you. There are plenty of characters to select from albiet not from the very start but once you begin progressing through the story then more characters will join you on your quest.

As with most RPG's you need a good story to carry the game along and while Luminous Arc is a little cliched, I actually found myself really liking the actual story line and as such kept playing this game until I completed it. The way the story is told through character conversations is the best the DS is really going to get but I felt Luminous Arc did a great job of explaining the story to me.

Overall if you're looking for a great RPG/SRPG game on a handheld then Luminous Arc whilst not the best on offer is certainly a very stellar game and I would easily recomend getting this game if you own the console. Plus there is a sequel already on the way which I will look forward to playing on as well!

 As good as it gets...

This game is top notch entertainment! From the excellent artwork and emotional storyline, this title grabs you by the proverbial spheres and doesnt let go right to the end. Even then, after the game is finished, all sorts of interesting extras open up. Highly recommended in the strongest possible sense. This is a game I just couldnt put down. If you dont yet own a ds, this game is one of the best reasons to go get one!

 Great tactic rpg

I do think this is one of the best tactical rpgs playable on Nintendo ds at the moment...its only downside is the lack of side-quests, but the main story is quite long and also well developed (even if based on a recurrent theme in rpgs, the church)...
Characters are well characterised, even if there are many of them to be chosen and used in battle...
I definitely recommend this title to all tactical-rpgs lovers.

 Has Lots to Offer

An RPG worthy of the DS. This is a good one to play with many characters to choose form, an online mode and a gripping story.
The only thing stopping this from being a five star is the dodgy voice acting but that can be turned off.
