I am a massive guitar hero fan, and now own almost every guitar hero branded peice of kit around, so imagine my delight when I heard Guitar Hero: On Tour was on the DS.

I was initially pleased with the item, even though i am used to having 5 buttons on a regular controller, and expert being really expert.

The addon for the DS only has four buttons, and expert is nowhere near as hard as the 5 button versions. This makes the game easier to complete, it took me around 5 hours to complete the game and a further 2 to get 5 stars on every song on every difficulty.

You need to be careful, the little button addon gadget can come out half way through a song, getting a message on screen saying that your rocking out a bit too hard, and you have to turn off the DS and restart the game. Bummer. (This does happen quite often as the addon isnt locked into the slot, so it can slide out easily.)

The audio quality also is not up to scratch. (not helped by the low quality DS speakers), but there is only a certain number of space on the game card, and the audio quality on the game sounds worse than it should. Some of the songs are quite long, which makes me think if they had reduced the length of some songs, it would both improve the audio quality for the other songs and reduce strain on the wrist.

My Breakdown:

Graphics - 8/10
(Although good, they do not push the DS's full capability.)

Audio - 6/10
(The audio quality through the DS speakers is awful. Try using headphones or connecting to an external sound system.)

Gameplay - 7/10
(The touchscreen is not really an ideal way to strum the notes, as i noticed that touching the screen as well as strumming plays a note.)

Difficulty - 10/10
(Mainly because of the wrist problem, it prevents you from playing through the entire song library. i can just about play 4 to5 songs in one go.)

Interactivity - 9/10
(fully interactive menus and songs, but the touch screen may be too sensitive for song gameplay.)

Replayability - 6/10
(its fun to play from the first easy song to the last expert song and unlock everything, but once this is done, its kinda just... over.

Although the game does have its faults, it is a very good game to play, with 25 songs, most of which are exclusive to this game and will not appear in any other GH game. Or, if your like me,and want every game and toy in the GH series, buy ahead, but beware, it deffinatly isnt perfect.
