The concept of this game looks great, the graphics and gameplay look great too, but playing this game is just a bit annoying....
You start of in your back yard, and once you've got a squirrel visiting it seems that all you have to do is keep it happy, by picking it a few acorns, making it feel safe etc., but no - all the oak trees, berry trees, cauliflowers growing in your garden, fir trees and flowers all need watering continuously and if you don't then the squirrel is unhappy! In the 'real' world rain would give your trees plenty of water to keep them alive!!
If all you had to do with this game was make your surroundings cheerful and make your animals happy this game would be great, but once i had attracted several squirrels and a racoon the more plants needed caring for i got so tired of 'gardening' and constantly watering and watering and watering and watering... You get the picture.... That i put the game down and have never picked it up again!
Maybe simanimals2 will take this problem into consideration and get rid of the stupid 'watering' - but until they develop that, then if you think you can cope with watering more than 'animalsimming', buy it !
I feel awful giving a Sims game a 2 star rating but I also feel that maybe its not even worth that.
The game is way too short, irritatingly repetitive and nothing like any Sims games i've ever played before (and i've got them all!).
My advice is, unless you are less than 8 years old, don't buy it!!!
I am a great fan of sims and my sims and couldnt wait for sims aminals to come out to add to my collection.Ive had it since the release date, and keep trying it, as i hope ive mist something and it isnt a bad as I think it is.The game is just so boaring all you seam to do is water plaints to get food to keep your animals happy. It dosnt matter how far you get or waht animal you have, its all the same. I was expecting a lot better very disapointing.
Like a lot of 'Sims' and 'My Sims' enthusiasts, I waited ages for this game to be released. If I had known what was in store I would have saved my money instead.
Let me clarify, the idea of game is quite innovative and the graphics (although cartoon-style) are very good, but the tasks that you need to complete in the game are both simple and excrutiatingly repetitive. Although the animals that you can control get larger (literally as you start with birds and eventually get to bears and foxes, lol!) the tasks such as growing plants, watering plants and ensuring there is enough food for all the creatures does not change regardless of the animals in your location.
New locations do become unlocked rapidly, but they are all fairly similar. Even the challenges of 'Get an owl to move in', etc do not keep a player entertained for long and are fairly repetitive.
I got to level 4 before I finally decided that there were better games out there. I agree with the other reviewer, buy 'Viva Pinata' instead. It has all of the graphic finesse of this game, but is a thousand times more interesting.
I think that 'Sim Animals' would be a struggle for younger gamers due to the large text-based parts of the game, but adults will more than likely be bored within a few hours at most.
Final oppinion: It just isn't worth the money. If you do decide to pick this game up you will probably be putting it down again very soon. 1/10.
people who say its rubbish, are so wrong its great, and i would advise you to get it.
