A fun little game for those who are already learning german

| | See all zivatony's reviews (3)

We're already learning basic german so it was helpful to us and some light relief from exercise books and formal learning - I can't believe that anyone would actually purchase this game with the intent of using it as the sole reference for learning german - buy a few cheap exercise books too and you'll be well on your way, so does what it says it will and cheap enough from here, good bargain we thought xxx

  Not great for learning German

I bought this for my 7 year old who is learning german. It was too hard for someone without a reasonably good german knowledge and he quickly got bored with it. It basically won't teach you anything that you don't already know. I wouldn't buy it at all if i had tried it out first.

  A bit dissapointing

This is a good game if you want a bit of fun but i wouldn't recommend it if you are serious about learning German. I didn't have any trouble with any glitches but i gave up after a while as the mini games got a bit repetitive and i wasnt learning much German.
It also doesnt explain how to put sentences together which is extremely annoying.
I hope this helps people to decide whether or not to buy this product but if I knew what i know now i wouldnt be buying this game.

  Not very good

The game is almost fun but not very good for learning german.

**I like the catapult mini game to lean nouns.

**Some of the mini games are annoying because they are either take too long (finding the correct object for the specified article) or they are nothing do to with learning the words (like the hide and seek).

**The game has bugs in it. When taking the sentace exam, sometime it speaks aloud the incorrect sentance that is written on the screen.

**The voice recognition is not good. It doesnt recognie the password for level 3 when i speak it so i dont know how to progress.

**The tests using the letter recognition are pointless because it just waits until you enter the correct letters. so you dont learn anything, you just guess and enter letters until you get the correct ones. you cant get less than 100%

  You can't finish the game!!!

This game would be ok for language building although you can't ever complete it. VERY FRUSTRATING!

You get to the last class on kick ball and can't get any further resulting in you having to reset your DS.

I just wanted to make people aware before they buy it.

Do not waste your money on this rubbish

I was very disappointed with this piece of software for many reasons, the biggest being that it just plain doesn't work at times.

The game is full of glitches. It's the first time I've used software for the ds where it actually freezes during gameplay, meaning I'd have to reset. Also the game sometimes dictates the wrong word, like you want to hear how the word 'Apfel' is said but it says 'Banana'!

The mini-games, which I suppose are supposed to make learning fun, are long and tedious while providing very little language knowledge. How this could help in anyone in learning German, at any level, I don't know.

Hmmm, not as straight forward as i would have liked. I got this for my 8 year old and he needed rather a lot of help with it. Instructions in the booklet aren't very good either. The speaking voice is at its maximum and you struggle to hear it. Mini games are annoying as it isn't always obvious what you have to do. I wouldn't buy any other language in this series.

Not too bad, could have been better!

It's easy to get to grips with, you can use the english flag if you get stuck (great idea)? The only downside to this game... When you've collected the alphabet the letters seem to vanish & you have to find them again. (even after you've saved them) I've found cliches, it gives you stuff then takes them away? Some of the words don't fit what you're doing, it's out of sync! Some words are not easy to hear a bit garbled...
