Take on uncharted territory in Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness for Nintendo DS! After surviving a shipwreck and finding yourself washed up on a desert island, you'll have to start a new life - and hopefully find someone to share it with. Using the DS stylus exclusively, you can get your finances rolling by planting some seasonal crops to create a fledgling farm and then expand with additional produce, like mushrooms or chocolate. Raising your own herd of cows or flock of sheep will bring in valuable additional funds, but make sure you keep your animals happy by petting, shearing and milking them when needed!

You can choose to play as either a boy or a girl in Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness and it'll be vital to your survival to make friends quickly. Luckily, the island's inhabitants are usually up for a chat and once you get yourself established you'll attract all manner of tourists, eager to join in the fun.

As well as enjoying the company of your new friends and family on the island, you can also connect with your real-world friends thanks to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Simply picking up the phone in your island home will open the door to four-player Voice Chat between you and Island of Happiness' players around the world. You'll also be able to exchange special items with other players wirelessly and submit your farm to the global Farm Rankings service to see how it shapes up in the grand scheme of things.

Get a taste of life down on the farm in Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness!
  • Control everything using the DS stylus - walking, running, and tending your crops and cattle just by making intuitive movements.
  • Earn extra money by exploring the island for local plants and flowers, digging for gems at the mines or reeling in a big catch with your fishing rod.
  • Chat with up to four of your friends via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and compare the progress of your individual islands.
  • Interact with characters who visit the island and try your hand at shearing sheep and milking cattle in fun minigames!

 Simply Awesome

This game is simply awesome. No timescale in which to complete so you can take the game at your own pace and run your farm the way you want to.

 Amazing! ~ Honest review

Helloooo there :D

Thanks for talking the time to read this review, I will be as honest as I can.

To me, I loved this game! The graphics where amazing and the story line was even better. I am going to slip this up so its easer to read

Village and Villger:
Better. In harvest moon DS I didn't no who half the villagers were and never really talked to them. In IOH you have to unlock them and this means you now therer names and lets face it, it nice they came to your house. But you have to keep talking to them or they will move out! Also you have to get roads for your newly founder island so this is fun to see you happy little town really take off! Another thing is to get to main places you have to get bridges to go to new places.

Amimals
Better. In harvest moon ds when you wanted to pet you animals it would just be a picture and the eyes would change once in a while. In IOH the head nodd, they bush, smile and the backgroun is so much cuter!! A bad point is there isnt a cat or ducks you can get and you have to befriend villagers to get some animals... other then that it is pretty much the same apart you get a free calf! (Baby cow)

Graphis:
Much Better! No glites in the game once so ever! Think of animal crossing if you have played it. The controls are simmiler. You use the stick to move everythings! Also in the old games you could see that everything was based on a square but on this one you could pretty much go in any dicetion with is fab! One more good piont is when you talki to people that picture id much clearer and blicks! It is also on the same screen you are plaing on so you dont bother haveing to move you head! x]

Marrage:
Slighterly easer. In this game you only have to have 7 harvest sprites and they come throught the game anyway. (And the boys are sooo much cuter! The girls too!!) xD

Your Child:
Better! In this game you can have a girl or a boy and it will start off as a baby. Once you get married the rivals will marry and have children of there own!

Making money:
Same. Forging is pretty much the same.

Controls:
Slightly worst. I have to almit the contols are slightly harder to use when you first use that game. BUT after time you get used to it and you move qiuck and easy. The only main plain is watering crops and that take forever!

Mining:
Pretty much the same but there are no monster to fight in this one. A real pain in this one is when you go down a pithole you could lose all you STM really quickly! D:

Story Line:
Mcuh better. In the old game I didn't really get why I was there but in this one it is easy to see that you are shipedwreck on a island with on 4 other people. You can even play as a girl or a boy on the game game card! I loved seeing people move in to my little island and making it much better for everyone! :D

Overall:
Out of the havrest moon games I have played I think this is one is better. Give it a chance to see if it suits you :)

Thanks ever so much!

 Dissapointment

Rather disappointing this installment of harvest moon for many reasons, one being the dire touch screen controls, the original for the Ds had no control problems so why go to the effort of changing it? another disappointment is the painfully slow gameplay, harvest moon always has had slow gameplay, but this one is mind numbingly slow. The idea of this is a portable version of the wii/gamecube magical melody, but considering that was much weaker than AWL it seems pointless making an adaption for the Ds. This isn't the worst Harvest moon and the choice of gender is a nice addition but i advise those who are thinking, HM is all very familiar to stay away because this game adds nothing new to the tired formula. But hardcore fans will mostly likely love it.

 Not Good :(

I have always loved harvest moon and thought all the games were great! And when I saw this game i was real exited as you can choose the sex of your character!
So I bought the game, and was unfortunatley extremely disappointed! Even though the graphics are alot better as the game is 3D, the controls are stylus only and the game get really annoying as you often find yourself picking up wood and weeds that you don't want and discarding things that you need, these terrible controls ruin the fun of the game.
Also, you can't acomplish what you need in a day because of the stamina meter, you loose alot of stamina from just walking or running! It is almost impossible to make money fast and to unlock half of the island you need to build bridges and that costs loads! Overall this game is a disappointment to the previous Harvest moon games, so if you are looking to buy, go for an older one.
Hoped this review was helpful.

 not bad

This game is ok but i just have a few little problems with it.the harvest sprites do not help you in this game at all,so if you have got lots of crops and animals to care for it does take a long time to do it.petting the animals every day does get a bit annoying after a while as you can only do it with the touch screen,so if 12 animals need to be petted every day it becomes a bit tedious.other than them 2 problems i do like this game especially the mining.
