Take on uncharted territory in Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness for Nintendo DS! After surviving a shipwreck and finding yourself washed up on a desert island, you'll have to start a new life - and hopefully find someone to share it with. Using the DS stylus exclusively, you can get your finances rolling by planting some seasonal crops to create a fledgling farm and then expand with additional produce, like mushrooms or chocolate. Raising your own herd of cows or flock of sheep will bring in valuable additional funds, but make sure you keep your animals happy by petting, shearing and milking them when needed!

You can choose to play as either a boy or a girl in Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness and it'll be vital to your survival to make friends quickly. Luckily, the island's inhabitants are usually up for a chat and once you get yourself established you'll attract all manner of tourists, eager to join in the fun.

As well as enjoying the company of your new friends and family on the island, you can also connect with your real-world friends thanks to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Simply picking up the phone in your island home will open the door to four-player Voice Chat between you and Island of Happiness' players around the world. You'll also be able to exchange special items with other players wirelessly and submit your farm to the global Farm Rankings service to see how it shapes up in the grand scheme of things.

I have always loved harvest moon and thought all the games were great! And when I saw this game i was real exited as you can choose the sex of your character!
So I bought the game, and was unfortunatley extremely disappointed! Even though the graphics are alot better as the game is 3D, the controls are stylus only and the game get really annoying as you often find yourself picking up wood and weeds that you don't want and discarding things that you need, these terrible controls ruin the fun of the game.
Also, you can't acomplish what you need in a day because of the stamina meter, you loose alot of stamina from just walking or running! It is almost impossible to make money fast and to unlock half of the island you need to build bridges and that costs loads! Overall this game is a disappointment to the previous Harvest moon games, so if you are looking to buy, go for an older one.

Rather disappointing this installment of harvest moon for many reasons, one being the dire touch screen controls, the original for the Ds had no control problems so why go to the effort of changing it? another disappointment is the painfully slow gameplay, harvest moon always has had slow gameplay, but this one is mind numbingly slow. The idea of this is a portable version of the wii/gamecube magical melody, but considering that was much weaker than AWL it seems pointless making an adaption for the Ds. This isn't the worst Harvest moon and the choice of gender is a nice addition but i advise those who are thinking, HM is all very familiar to stay away because this game adds nothing new to the tired formula. But hardcore fans will mostly likely love it.
