Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Possibly the best game on the ds

It's one of the best super mario games ever, and that in its self says a lot about this game.
nintendo hadn't published a 2-D platform mario game in ages, and now that it did it was worth the wait.
The stages, the enemies, the graphics, the music and the subtle hints about previous classic mario games are simply amazing.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars it is cool

On level one it is rely good if you get a shell on level one and if you go in a castle you can go through a door you can get your chance first then you can run through and mario goes fast then theres a thing that you can go through this and then it takes mario to a place and it tackes him to level5 it has got lots of mini games on mario thisis a good game

This game rocks! The main game is just regular Mario but theres nothing wrong with that, everyone knows how good Mario is!
The thing that really makes this game so good though is the mini games!!
You can play single or multi-player, both are fun! There are so many to play, lots of different types...you cant get bored of this!
Im sure all DS owners will want this...and if not, they should!

I wish this game was longer and had tonnes more levels and things to do like the Mario on the SNES, but the graphics and gameplay are quality and it's very good fun to play.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Billiant But Irritating

Yet another classic mario game! Well there are 8 worlds altogether to complete but to get to worlds 4 and 7 you have to defeat the boss in the last world as mini mario which i think is a good twist but difficult. I found world one easy but got harder as it got to worlds 4/5. The enemies are pretty much the same and yet again you have to save the princess. Also there is additonal features like making mario really big and really small. The graphics are great (always are on ds though) the only thing that really dissapointed me is how you die so easy and have to go all the way back to the beginning of the level! You get really irratated sometimes, even though its still a addictive game thats fun.
Overall rateting great

Top 100 Games Reviewer

I bought New Super Mario Brothers bubbling with excitement as I was a giant fan of the older side scrolling Mario games and this one looked even better.

Guess what, it is. New Super Mario bros is one of Nintendo's finest creations on the DS. Everyone last person who owns a DS should have this in their Nintendo library as it is one of the all time classics. For me this is how Mario games should be (excluding Mario Galaxy which is another gem and another review altogether!!) Old school fans will be overcome by nostalgic joy as they kick hose koopa shells through rows and rows of enemies, go down green pipes into rooms full of coins to be collected or hear that distinctive 'grow' sound as Mario collects a mushroom and becomes large!! But this isn't just another page in the twenty-year-old book; New Super Mario Bros is just as fresh as it is nostalgic, jam packed with loads of new exciting elements.

Even if you have hammered through every Mario game in existence, New Super Mario Bros will still give you plenty of 'wow' moments. You'll be amazed when you play in fully rotating environments, like in Yoshi's Island but smoother. Your eyebrows will hit the ceiling in shock when you first see the enormous 3D bosses that march onto the DS screen. Mario's more acrobatic abilities enhance the traditional 2D gameplay. His ground pound thankfully returns, allowing him to smash bricks beneath him, along with the wall jump, where Mario kicks back off vertical surfaces to gain extra height. You will also see Mario tiptoe over tightropes Mario Sunshine style, with the ropes bending convincingly under his weight.

But guess what that's not all Mario can do. He's been graced with all new and exciting super powers and using them for the first time is a treat. The first is where Mario gets a shell like koopa except his is blue; using this is a moment of glory. Hold the dash button down to run fast as Mario tucks his head and limbs into the shell and shoots along the ground just like a kicked shell, battering through any creature in his way.

Then there is my favourite; mega Mario. Mario grabs a giant mushroom and then transforms into a huge version of Mario, almost as tall as the screen. For about ten seconds Mario stomps along crushing anything in his way. Finally in complete contrast to giant Mario there is mini Mario. At full speed this tiny dot on the screen can skim over the water, he is also very light and can almost float in the air as if he is filled with helium. Even better, many levels feature tiny secret paths and pipes that only mini Mario can fit into.

There are also mini-games and a multi player mode too to keep you further entertained for a good while. Multiplayer has players racing through 2D levels to collect stars. Put all this together and you have a pretty great game. It really is almost endlessly addictive with as much of that one-more go appeal as Mario's old time classics. That's the Mario effect and will never get old. It simply defines Nintendo and defines games. My advices buy this game!!! It really is everything I hoped for and even more. It perfectly recaptures and enhances the old classic Mario formula!!!

Pros:
- Classic Mario at it's best.
- Almost perfect plat forming.
- Fantastic 2D/ 3D visuals.
- Superb sounds, music and graphics.

Cons:
- Can be a little easy at times.

Overall: 9/10.
Gameplay: 10/10.
Graphics: 10/10.
Sound and Music: 9/10.
