I had a S.N.E.S. back when Chrono Trigger first came out and was really disappointed that square soft at the time wouldn't release this fantastic game in the U.K. Many people consider Chrono Trigger to be one of the best games of all time and I can see why now at last. The story is brilliant and the music is wonderful too. The battle system was ahead of it's time and the game has aged very well indeed. The graphics have aged the most but when it comes to role playing games I will put my neck out on line and say, it is maybe overall better then The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass or at least just as good. Chrono Trigger really is one of the best games on the DS and should not be missed if you are a fan of r.p.g.'s. The new touch screen controls work really well and once you start playing you will be hooked. Please Square-Enix give us The Secret Of Mana, Final Fantasy 6 and the Super Mario RPG for the DS too. We UK gamers deserve these games and we love our r.p.g.'s too. I know that two of those games that I spoke of you can get on Wii shop but they are better suited for the DS really.

 Nostalgia at it's best.

I was fortunate to have owned this on the SNES (American Import) and it remains one on my top 5 list of best RPG's out there. Although this game is pre Final Fantasy VII, it will not cater to everyone as quite a lot of FF7 fans tend not to backtrack unless they played Square games prior to FF7. Although the graphics aren't the best, the storyline more than makes up for this. It is one of the few Square games where each character that joins your team have their own backstory and their own quest to deal with.

Plus you get to time travel!!! But what makes this game so beautiful is the way one persons invention effects the whole world by pure accident, and the real reason why Lucca built the time machine will be revealed much later on. Don't let the graphics put you off as this game is not one to be missed! Where else can you find a game with over 15 endings!

The conversion to DS although small is relatively the same, even when you have DS mode it still runs like the classic in that you can still use the controls to navigate the touch screeen. Roll on Final Fantasy 6 and Secret of Mana!!!

Finally Released in Europe After So Many Years

If you were to pick a JRPG that wasn't Final Fantasy then what would you pick? Well most of them will refer to Chrono Trigger the fantastic game on the old Snes console and unlike it's Final Fantasy cousins has survived it's remake without changing much in fact rarely changing anything at all as you can decide to play retro style using buttons which is handy seeing as my touch screen is wearing out.
If you reconise the art style then you'll know it's Akira Toriyama's art, it's also the most successful thing Toriyama has ever done which isn't dragon related which is quite an achievement for a man who has a thousand uses for the word Dragon.
Also this was done by Square Enix. They revived a title that everyone wanted instead of making yet another Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy game which at this point are getting very tedious.
Another achievement this game has is it's gameplay and story, using a fast flowing gameplay forces you to make decisions quickly and the story has been carefully tuned to make sure nothing is out of place and everything makes perfect sense. It also has a beautiful musical score.
Even the characters are quite well rendered and you'll find plenty of paths to take on your quest including numerous side quests.
I have nothing bad to say about this game which is quite rare for me but trust me when I say that this is the best RPG ever made.

 Simply the best...

If you are a Japanese RPG fan or even an RPG fan in general then you need this game. Although the the US and Japan have seen this game many times before this is the first time it has seen a European release. It was recently voted the best game of all time, even beating fan favorite FF VII! The graphics hold thier own, even though the game is 14 years old and the animated sequences are breath-taking. Gameplay is top notch too, with battles not random like other RPG series and your characters spreading out on the battlefield to gain a tactical advantage like they would in real life. I don't even know why you are reading this... BUY THIS GAME IF YOU OWN A DS!

One of the best RPG's - now in a portable version.

If you have played this before, you have probably done so "illegally", since it has never been released in Europe before.
So this is your chance to give Square something back for all those hours of fun this game has given you.

And if you've never played it before, please do, this is an amazing game!
