The award-winning original next-generation killer app returns with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. The Ghosts are back!

It's 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S./Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS) but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching U.S. soil. With a border that's 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn't play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military's most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts.

Tactical & PC Tailored Gameplay:

  • Improved Tactical Map, HUD and orders system to plan and execute deadly strategies.
  • New tactics and additional supports (unmanned ground-drone M.U.LE) thanks Cross-Com 2.0 communication system.
  • New team strategies, thanks to reworked teammate A.I. and deeper specialisation.
  • New battlefields in wide rural, deserts zones, on both sides of the US/Mexico border.
  • Vastly Improved Multiplayer:

    • Exclusive "Recon versus Assault" Mode: Increased Recon into Multiplayer. Take control of a deadly Ghost Recon squad against the heavily armed Mexican renegades.
    • Variety of Multiplayer modes from the classic Team Deathmatch to the Original Ghost Recon Coop and many others.

    Realistic Warfare Experience:

    • Lead the Ghosts during a 72h critical mission to save the US soil from a nuclear threat.
    • Improved immersive & realistic technology: upgraded physics, new effects and graphics.
    • Accurate future war experience: Gear, weapons and supports based on the Integrated Warrior System, inspired by real life prototypes.

     Fix for Crash issues

    | | See all Sillynickname's reviews (1)

For those of you who don't know how to use Google, the crash issues with this game are written about all over the Ubisoft and GRAW2 forums. Rather than writing (and I use that term loosely!) a critical review because you couldn't fix a simple problem, you'd be better off finding a solution, then trying the game and writing a review that actually means something.

The crash problem occurs on users with nvidia graphics cards, and it's a known and documented issue which has existed since GRAW1.
The fix is simple, the default setting for Frames To Render Ahead is 3 for nvidia cards, this is what causes the conflict with the PhysX accelerator.
You need to set it to 0.

I got stuck on an early stage, it crashed after max 2 mins of gameplay.
Since changing the setting above, I've played through the majority of levels and am now nearing the end of the game, and have not experienced a single crash since.

The game is OK, not excellent. The AI for your team is pretty poor actually, but then I just leave them in one position and go and take out the enemy myself - got no time for carrying imbeciles!
The AI for the enemy is only any good once they're alerted, otherwise they're as thick as 2 short planks.

In short, not a great game, although there are some excellent elements, but not a bad one either.
For all FPS fans, R6 Vegas was better, but this will help fill the gap until Crysis comes out!

A Must have for fans of the GRAW Series

If you have seen played this game on another console other than PC then your first impressions might have not been too good like mine. The main reasons for this was the way in which you could only command your troops as a group, general game play, and the third person view over the shoulder.

However after playing the SP demo of the PC Version which is First Person I was delighted with it. I loved the first advanced warfigter and have been anxiously awaiting for this sequel.

I would have liked to have seen the hide and peep feature from Rainbow Six Vegas as has been mentioned in other reviews. This would have been a touch of class. The ability to move your team as a group or individuals is great to see unlike in the console versions of this game.

I think that Ubisoft have taken a step back in the menu design, complexity, and and campaign setup. However this is not a bad thing as it makes menu navigation alot easier.

They have also re-introduced the pre-mission introducion and the ability to choose from a selection of ghosts like in the older ghost recon series (but no the first Advanced Warfigter)

     Better than the original

Every bit as good as the first if not better! easier overall command of your men, simpler than the first to get the hang of. Im running this game with an ATI RADEON X1600 and the BFG AGEIA PHYSICS CARD and the graphics are awesome to say the least. Improved AI with your men and the enemy is top notch. What i would like to have seen is the hide & peek method that is used with rainbow 6 vegas as this would have added to the games already improved play from the first GRAW. Ghost recon has come along way since desert siege / island thunder and im sure its gonna be a hit!

     Sure Fire Hit

Unlike many others I actually loved the original PC version in this series GRAW, this is prehaps because I have a PC that could actually play the game. It was very challenging, and you really felt like you were in the battle, giving commands to your team, using your wit instead of your itchy trigger finger. This is set to be even better, with even more tactical commands that can be given the kill is now even more easier, however your foe is sure to have tricks up their sleeves.

5/5 not played this yet though I suspect another hit!!

     Enjoyable but so frustrating

This is a great game with some nice missions and impressive graphics. I like how realistic and interactive the environment is However, its little flaws become too much to handle sometimes. Your team mates are stupid, they dont follow instructions and walk right into danger far too often. They can be helpful the odd time but trying to use them in a strategic fashion is pointless.

Despite all that you do find yourself drawn into the game. If you forget about your team and just make them follow you it becomes fun. Sneaking and shooting first is a winning plan. Send a team mate round a corner first to get shot (if your worried a baddie is hiding). Gets very difficult at times...even on 'normal'.
