Spore is your own personal universe in a box. In this universe you can create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations and even sculpt entire worlds. In Spore you have a variety of creation tools at your disposal that allow you to customise nearly every aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even spaceships. While Spore is a single player game, your creations and other players' creations are automatically shared between your galaxy and theirs, providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play.

The Spore universe is made up of five phases with different challenges and goals. You may choose to start with the cell phase and nurture one species from its humble aquatic origins to its evolution as a sentient species. Or you may decide to start building tribes or civilizations on multiple planets. What you do with your universe is up to you.

Sandbox Gameplay - Create our own personal universe where you can evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations and even sculpt entire worlds.

Evolutionary Gameplay - Lead your species through stages of evolution from pond-scum to galactic god in Spore's campaign mode.

World Creators - Easy-to-use editors allow you to make everything from creatures and buildings to vehicles and spaceships.

Shared Content - Spore automatically shares your creations with other players through the Internet. And in your game, you'll explore and interact with a galaxy of content created by other players.

:( I am really dissipointed in this game!! Been waiting nearly 7 months for this game... I was lucky enough to get the game a day early (thursday) so ive had a pretty good go on it. :( The game is split up into parts first part you must gather dna to grow your spore (this is borin and very time consuming) 2nd part you must go around socialising with other spores...once again its pretty borin a few useless minigames later ull be on the tribe part.. And that part is..yep u guessed it..prtty borin :( you have to build up a tribe to conquer other tribes... Dont exspect command and conquer or civ 4 here!! :( I know im only on the 3rd part but ..so far you kind of get the feeling something is missing from the game. It allways seems like your building upto something good..but never quiet get there! I think the games aimed mainly at 10-16 yo's (im a 23yo) so maybe its just im not younger! But becareful! If you liked the creature maker (like i did) doesnt mean youll like the full game :'(
On the plus side there is alot of customiseing options from building unifroms foryour tribe, to making a spore that can look as sweet or as evil as your heart desires!! ..But this isnt enough to make up for the lack of....ummf during the game play.

3 Installs and it becomes a worthless disk.

You don't buy spore, you rent it, rental cost has a rrp of £39.99. But you can rent a copy for less. For the price you get a box, a disk and a manual, this allows you to install the game 3 times before your rental runs out and the disk becomes worthless., sure you may be one of those people who don't rebuild your pc, but for those of us who like to add new hardware and rebuild often this game turns out to be a good example of drm. 'Buy buying this game you are saying to e.a " go ahead and keep ripping me off by limiting how many times i can install this game"

Game review: Looks a good game, spore has 5 stages. The first 3 stages are no challenge and are really just about changing your appearance, 4th stage is very short and has limited fun, the 5th stage being the space stage is the core of what spore is. Just remember you are renting this game from e.a. So if you change hardware or rebuild often then you are going to use your 3 installs very quickly.

Wonderful game but by no means perfect...

EA should be ashamed of themself for the draconian DRM/Copy protection method they have employed for Spore. Be warned that you can only install this game 3 times and should you upgrade your hardware or EA's validation servers fail/be taken offline your copy will become entirely useless. It's my one major complaint about Spore and it's a significant problem.

DRM issues aside it's a lighthearted game with seemingly infinite creative possibilities. I'd highly recommend it to children and adults alike, although it won't appease the 'hardcore' gamer crowd with it's relatively shallow gameplay mechanics. The majority of the content can be found creating creatures, buildings and technology or exploring that of other players actively sharing their creations.

However my review score stands, EA should address this SecuROM issue immediately. Had I of known before my purchase I would of boycotted the product for it's inclusion alone, very unhappy about it indeed.

       A Fun Game But...

This is a fun game totally spoilt by some of the worse DRM protection I have ever encountered. No way will I buy another game protected in this manner.

       DRM, no thanks

I was really looking forward to buying this game, but no matter how good it is now, I am not wasting my money on a DRM infested game. I have more than one PC and tend to re-install/upgrade often, which makes a 3 install limit just pointless
Thanks EA for ruining a potentially good game!

Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Intel integrated chipsets featuring underclocked parts, such as the 945GU, GML, and GMS, will not perform adequately. Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn't listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all. The nVidia GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

When launching the game, some Microsoft Vista users may receive a warning about running out of address space along with a link to the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
