The third game in this multi-million selling series is building up a full head of steam for it's launch this year.

PopTop are the daddies of the tycoon world and with Railroad Tycoon 3 they are going to raise the bar on the whole genre with a fully realised 3D gaming world scaling from eye in the sky views of entire continents down to incredibly detailed close-ups of beautifully modelled locomotives, buildings and landscapes.

As well as the 25 challenging scenarios to recreate magnificent feats of railroading history, players can pick from over 40 locomotives over 35 different cargoes and in excess of 150 buildings - all to be used in a dynamic, fluid economy.

Railroad Tycoon 3 defines the essence of tycoon simulations with incredible attention to detail in a living, breathing world, built around a truly amazing game!

All aboard!

 Good but not the one!

I loved Railroad Tycoon 2 and played for hours upon hours while this sequel; not so much. It caught some of the essence of the second but just lacked something. It does however have some good qualities that was missing from RT2: Auto-Manage Cars for example where the stations automatically pick the appropriate cars and carriages for that train although this can be overridden. Bends in the track so you can navigate around a mountain or terrain piece without spending more than you should on small diversions.

Despite this I didn't feel it was as good as it's previous version and didn't feel as fun to play. The sound was an improvement as it was simply taken from the RT2 and, but the music was new and fresh adding that all important country/western style music that I grew to love from RT2.

If you're a massive fan of the series I suggest you buy it and see what you think, however if your a novice and looking for a some sort of railroad based RTS there are others out there. Railroad Tycoon 2 is good example of this. Perhaps they may get the franchise right in a fourth instalment.

 Not that great.

After hearing quite a few people say that this was a good game, i thought i would give it a go. I had previously played Railroad Tycoon 2 which at it's time was a good game. Sadly for me RT3 was a big let down, while the 3D graphics were better than the previous game, that was in my opinion all that was good, and i only recall trying it out the once for about half an hour then that was it. Im not usually like that with games and give them more than one chance, but sadly this was a one off. Other people may find this game good, and im sure there's many people out there who love this game. Sadly it's not for me and i much prefer the likes of Microsoft Train Simulator.

 Not As Good!

When I brought this product I was very disappointed, very hard to use and get the hang of, I could hardly understand what to do, and i just didn't enjoy it at all, I should have just stuck with Railroad Tycoon 2!
