The Movies is a "life simulation" game that lets players build and control their own Hollywood motion picture studio. Players create unique mini-trailer-style movies choosing everything from script selection and the hiring of cast and crew, to film production and premieres. Gamers build their entertainment empire by making hit movies, researching and introducing the newest cinematographic technologies and nurturing the biggest stars. Created by renowned developer Peter Molyneux of Lionhead Studios, The Movies takes life simulation to a whole new era, and as such is set to be a ground-breaking smash hit.
  • From Dirt Lot to Bustling Studio - Beginning in the 1920's, gamers start with a dirt lot and race to the year 2020, researching and introducing every technological advance from colour to computer graphics and beyond.
  • From Pitch to Premiere - Gamers handpick which projects they want to green-light and which scripts need rewrites. Players can remake the films they love or create an all-new masterpiece.
  • From Flops to Runaway Hits - Players can make every kind of film, from action flicks to teen comedies, suspense films, thrillers and horror movies. Gamers can explore different film genres to please audiences and express their creative vision.
  • From Nobody to Movie Mogul - The Movies gives gamers the opportunity to be a mega-rich bigshot, calling the tunes and hiring and firing the best.
  • Movie Magic Goes Global - Ultimately, gamers are judged by the movies they create. Players can post their short movies to the Web for the world to see or e-mail them directly to friends.

 A great game...

Ever dreamed of creating your own movies?

When i first got this game i had lots of ideas for movies that could be created.

Creating the movies takes a little getting used to but it is great stuff seeing your very own movie doing well in the charts.

The game allows you to either create your own movie (be it a small low-budget film or a blockbuster movie) or you can hire staff and writers to do it all for you.

However, i must say after a while it does get a tad boring and repetitive. Some aspects of this game can be a little hard as well, such as trying to compete for movie of the year at the award ceremonies etc.

Overall, this game is one of those titles you just have to try for yourself. I'd say if you're a big fan of the tycoon games or a wannabe director... you are going to love this!

Dont miss out :)

If your a fan of VideoGames or Movies you will probably love this game i just love the fact you can make your own actors and directors them use them to make your own film. I mean it is just great i have loads of fun making my own little films its awesome. And later if you want you get to pout your movie on the internet for everyone to watch. If you like the sound of that them buy this game you will not be dispointed!

LOVE THIS GAME! This can keep me amused for hours by creating gruesome storylines, cool characters and eery settings. I especially like putting in my own dialogue with the microphone, but sometimes it does mess things up a bit. I love this game and will play it for years to come!

 Great Game!!

Must be the best in its genre.

Not everyone will like it but I personally think it is a great game.
Some of it can be challenging which is good as games like this are usually easy.

I just wish they would bring out more expansion packs.
