Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway brings the critically acclaimed squad-based WWII shooter into the next generation of gaming with amazing graphics and sound, new cutting-edge gameplay features and a completely redesigned online component. Delivering on the franchise's compelling story, unrivaled authenticity and intense squad-based action, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway drops you into Operation Market-Garden, the largest airborne operation of World War II. Lead Matt Baker, Joe Hartsock and the rest of the 101st Airborne Division as they fight to open "Hell's Highway" in a daring bid for a quick end to the war.

Next Generation. Granted with the excellence of Unreal Engine 3, the classic authentic, squad based combat series explodes on next generation hardware offering unprecedented graphics and features.

Destroyable Cover. Keep your men moving, and choose your cover wisely - simulated with real physics, weapons will damage, dent, scorch, and destroy the world around you.

Unprecedented Character Design. Lifelike characters look, talk, move, and think with incredible realism. Game characters interact with the player and each other like true brothers-in-arms, trading ammunition, helping wounded allies, working together to man team-operated weapons, and more.

More open level design. Discover the enlarged given choices allowed by next-generation in wide open level design.

Unrivaled Authenticity for a true WWII immersion. Experience the high tension of true battles from the historical Market-Garden Operation, and make your way through real locations of 1940s Holland. Fight alongside historic war heroes such as such as Lt. Colonel Robert Cole, Colonel "Bob" Sink or George Koskimaki.

Step into the Boots of a Soldier. Hit the dirt and get prone, rip grenades from your chest and hurl them at your enemies. See and feel the blast of nearby explosions.

Live the Life of an Enlisted Man. Get orders from HQ, go on patrol, spot the enemy, and set up a devastating ambush. For the first time, finding the enemy before they find you is part of the challenge.

Rich cinematic experience. As the squad leader you interact and get to know your brothers through the game. Each character has its own personality, a unique story and background and grows through the game.

Anyone that loves the B.I.Arms story and previous games will no way be dissapointed.
controls and commands are the same with an added dig in function so you can get behind ultimate cover and not just hide behind a wall,as long as u dont hide behind anything wooden as the enemy AI will shred that and you as well.

Like the other 2 games you run in on ure own and leave your men to shoot away and your as good as dead,The game calls for tactics.Get ure team to supress them whilst you and ure man flank them.
The graphics are smoothly polished and are a lot better than the last game as you can imagine.
In a nut shell if you dont have the other 2 games and like call of dutys but with some tactics then i would have no hesitation in recommending this,
Anyone with a nice Ati Radeon 4850 or 4870 will have guessed this game will run perfect on Max settings at 1440X700.

              Be warned.
The back of the box says internet connection required for activation
and also WinXp Users need Service Pack 3 and Vista SP1.

               A happy few

There are only a handful of games on the shelves at the moment that incorporate such an extensive level of virisimilitude and this is one of them.
The general idea of BIA gameplay has always been successful with squad management etc, and this game takes it to a whole other level.
Great graphics, destructible landscape and a gripping storyline covering Operation 'Market Garden', make this a game that you simply must own!

               Its Good but not COD4

If you like free flowing games which u can effortlessly run from one area of cover to another (like COD4) you may not like this game. It requires a little more thought about flanking positions, Aiming is a chanllenge at time even when sights are bang on they still don't go down.

Would call it a strategic FPS game where u can swap to the Third person when in cover. Haven't tried the online for it as it's too cumbersome to control it offline so can imagine the online would be naff.

Overall though nice graphics a little buggy as already stated but no COD4 substitute. Can't wait for COD5!!!

               Money well spent

Let me start off by saying this is a great game. Its strength lies in the singleplayer, and whilst it has its flaws it remains a compelling experience that I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
              To summarise, the good:
Highly tactical, offers a very different gameplay experience to most shooters out there.
Some real cinematic moments and good (though not groundbreaking) graphics all round.
A decent storyline that succeeds in making you care for the characters.

              And now the bad:
Occasional AI and animation bugs, though nothing totally crippling.
              Some minor game balance issues.
Vehicle scenes really quite lacklustre compared to the infantry combat.
The campaign is really quite short, on normal difficulty it took me about 6-7 hours.

All this said, if youre looking for a WW2 shooter with a bit of a twist and a cool Tshirt, you're probably not going to regret buying this.

Great Atmosphere in Old skool level design

              Top 100 Books Reviewer

I think BiA is a game which has many great features, but for me it falls down on the overall level design and gameplay.

The core gameplay of BiA games is using cover and flanking with upto 2 squads whilst trying to avoid being flanked by the enemy. It worked reasonably well in the previous two games as it was a fresh approach on WW2 away from the Call of Duty series. It was also quiet tricky to play it as a FPS.

Why I give Hells Highway 3 stars is because whilst it excels in sound, visuals (mostly), atmosphere and cinema experience, the core gameplay is pretty simple and the level design does not improve this. The gameplay has been adapted to be more like a FPS, which imo has it downsides.

The levels feel forced. Each area feels like an arena where the Germans appear one side and you fight across a courtyard, a graveyard, a street, field etc. Within this arena the designers have put a variety of cover objects, i.e bails of hay, walls, barrels, boxes. Some levels are great, but in many I felt that the design was poor and unnatural. The AI is improved but again the Germans run for cover behind a wall and stay there until you take the offensive.

Overall BiA is a very good WW2 FPS experience, but I found the level design to be restrictive and dull/repetitive, esp tank missions. If this does not bother you then it is a great rival to the CoD series.
