Earth: 2060 - The dawn of a hellish new age, the marauding Strogg, cyborg soldiers of the evil Makron, have left the world's major cities as abandoned smoking ruins. The Strogg come in greed - to stroggify humanity into spare parts and protein food. The GDF must defeat the ravaging alien hordes, or face extinction.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the Quake Zero of the Quake universe, set in the early days of the Strogg invasion of Earth, years before the events of Quake II, pitting the combined humand armies of the Global Defense Force (GDF) against the vastly technologically superior Strogg. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars chronicles the epic battles waged around the world in humanity's desperate war for survival.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the ultimate online strategic shooter - an objective-driven. class-based first person shooter set in the Quake universe.

Limited Edition Collectors Pack includes:

  • All ten remaining collectors cards
  • Bonus DVD including game related videos, concept art and ringtones.

Game features:

  • Mission-Based Combat: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pits teams against each other on a real battlefield, with military-style objectives (e.g. take out a key defence, destroy a target). As a result, everyone always knows where the action is - no more wandering.
  • Deep Teamwork: With "asymmetrically-designed" classes (10 in total), each team in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars provides a unique gameplay experience. The GDF and Strogg are two distinct armies with different strategies and tactics.
  • Individual Role-Play: Using class-specific capabilities, players can be the linchpin of an entire operation, building a necessary bridge or infiltrating enemy defenses to enable a decisive missile strike.
  • Upgradeable Capabilities and Stats: Over the course of a multi-mission campaign, players earn experience and promotions, and gain new capabilities to help the team. In addition, stats are globally recorded for players to track their rank and prestige in the Enemy Territory community.
  • Solo Assignment System: Automatically assigns players individual missions, so new entrants always know what they need to do.
  • Simplified Pilot Controls: With easier controls, air vehicles are not restricted to advanced players.
  • Level Playing Field: While players earn promotions and stats every time they play, unlocked capabilities are specific to the campaign. Every player starts the campaign at the same level.
  • Megatexture Technology: id Software, known for games using cutting-edge technology, has done it again. The revolutionary Megatexture technology allows battlefields to extend to the horizon, with over a square mile of unique terrain at unprecedented detail.

An Evolution of the FPS genre!

When I first played the first Beta I was totally blown away... with it's differnt approach to the typical FPS game.
When you spawn onto an objective you parchute down which lets you land right in the action and of course choose where to land.. maybe choose some good cover if the fightings fierce. Unlike any other online multiplayer FPS the soldier classes provide distinctly different ways to play the game... eg. if you go a medic you have the purpose of resurrecting injured players and the game insures you do this by giving you only a clip of ammunition... so you dont start taking objectives. Other interesting classes let you designate supply drops and provide air and artillery support... and of course you get to choose which weapon you take in your soldier class. Both the Strogg and the GDF play really differently with disinctly different technologies and abilities giving players a unique experience playing each race.
The Vechile look fantastic with great detail and textures, all the weapons sound great. Everything that was not perfect about the original beta has been sorted out for the beta 2 so I do not think there is anything I don't think is good about this game... it's pretty much everything I hoped that could be done in future FPS games.

Just to let you all know, if you haven't received your registration key, ring the play.com helpdesk and mention it to the helpful chappies there. It's happened to a lot of people so they know exactly what you're on about and sort it out in less than 3 minutes, probably less than 2 if you don't stutter and stammer a lot like I did! :(
