Earth, 2019: A colossal asteroid crashes down to Earth.

The North Korean Government quickly seals off the island chain, claiming the mysteries of the asteroid for themselves. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation and report back to the Pentagon. Amid rising tensions between the US and North Koreans, the asteroid suddenly bursts open, revealing a massive, 2km high alien ship. The ship generates an immense force sphere, freezing a vast portion of the island and drastically altering the global weather system. The invasion of Earth has begun.

The two rival nations unite to stop the aliens and save mankind. The newly formed alliance fights epic battles against the marauding Aliens. With hope rapidly fading, the player must lead a crack squad through lush tropical jungle, harsh frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero-G encounter with the aliens.
  • Adapt to Survive: An epic story thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from newly frozen jungle to zero-gravity alien environments.
  • Suit Up: A high-tech nano-suit allows gamers to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield. Players can choose to enhance their speed, strength, armor and cloaking abilities to approach situations in creative tactical ways.
  • Customisable Weaponry: A huge arsenal of modular weaponry gives gamers unprecedented control over their play style. Blow the opposition away with experimental weapons like the TAC launcher, discover alien technology and utlise custom ammunition from incendiary-tipped rounds to tactical munitions that can silently put foes to sleep.
  • Veni Vidi Vici: Lifelike enemy AI challenges players to assess a situation and approach it strategically. It isn't about having the fastest trigger finger - players are challenged to be proactive in the fight, not reactive.
  • Zero-G Gameplay: Battle a horrifying alien species in a true Zero-gravity environment, where physics change everything as players must adapt to moving in Zero-G and contending with the recoil from their weapons and more.
  • Next-Gen Graphics: Built from the ground up using Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE 2, Crysis has full DirectX 10 support and scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines.
  • Open, Physicalised World: Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies.
  • Bring It Online: Full-featured multiplayer for up to 32 players with real-time armor and weapons customisation. For a pure adrenaline fix hit the Instant Action button, or prepare yourself for the all-new multiplayer PowerStruggle mode that combines economy and vehicle warfare, alien technology and ranking, all wrapped in a strategic objective-based experience.

Looks nice....shame it's still farcry though

Bought the game purely to test my new PC knowing i wasn't going to be all that special. I was right...my PC has no problems running it and will run it on DX10 when i get around to implementing the emulation thing.

It looks fantastic, unfortunately it's short as hell (took me around 6/7 hours first time) and is basically far cry with a power suit.

There arn't enough enemies, only a few weapons of which only 1 is realy that useful and theres the pointlessly hard to kill aliens who only seem to be there to annoy you. The story is laughable and the decision to split this game in to 3 parts (yes, there will be a 2 and 3) is just because EA/Crytek want more money.

I can't comment on the multiplayer as i've not bothered to look at it yet. I'll only really play BF as games like this on multiplayer don't appeal to me for various reasons.

If your a casual gammer with money to afford the spec required and you want something that looks nice and is reletively easy to play. Buy this game.

If you were expecting revolution in both graphics and game play and wanted something more than far cry with a nice power suit don't bother. atleast not until it's dropped in price, maybe down to £18.

For any one wondering, there is a way of playing this using the Direct X10 settings without vista. It's something like "emulation arcade" or something to that effect, just google it. I can run it on full DX9 on 1024x768 with NO slow down what so ever and am capable of running on full DX10 on this spec:

Intel core 2 duo E6750 2.67Ghz
2gig OCZ reaper RAM 1066Mhz
8800GT 512mb DDR3

 Graphics Junkie Geeks

Where to begin. There is a new generation of game players who are seriously ruining the gaming market. I call them "graphics Junkie GeekS".

Everyone appreciates a beautiful looking game. But they don't rely on it's beauty to get their kicks. Take Crysis as a prime example. Great graphics, yes, and much appreciated. But where's the flippin gameplay. Thats where i wanna get my kicks!!

I'm an old school gamer, I belong in the "Contra", "Streets of rage" era. Games which set standards. Tekken, SSX, Quake2, Half Life 2... enough said.

Far Cry was a "nice" game. nothing ground breaking, it's major problem was it's "Sandbox" gameplay.

"Crysis" is "far cry" with a fancy suit. The suit is a gimmick, and soon gets boring, and the missions and story are lame to the bone. And thats all i have to say about the game. =)

This year i've played alot of PC games, Including Gears of war and COD 4, Which in my opinion are leaps better than Crysis. But here is an even interesting comparision.

Crysis vs Kane and Lynch

The same sheep who claim Crysis to be the king of games, are saying Kane and lynch is rubbish.

Kane and Lynch, with all it's glitches, is a better game. It has a story you actually care about, and the voice acting of both the main characters is top notch. Also, the graphics when set to highest settings, are great. It's an old school game, it has class, like max payne and GTA.

Crysis, isn't a 1 star game. But for all the praise it has recieved, i've had to balance the scores out. I own a 8800 gtx and 3g ram. So i've seen the game in all it's beauty. It's really not enough anymore. i'd have more fun playing Toe jam & earl in Coop.

And by the way, the same goes with Unreal tournament 3. Great graphics, saaammmmeeee gameplay as 2004.
So whats the point!!

Most overhyped game of last year

Many would argue with me, yet i have spoken to numerous people who agree, quite frankly this game is over rated, it is more a gfx showcase than a full game. The following is my break down

Story line:
The story line is poor and uninteresting, it grips you little and the game really doesnt make u want to continue playing very much as there is no rpg element either.

The gameplay is distinctly average, the weapons you use are weak, i mean come on 4 or 5 shots to kill someone is no fun when ammo is restricted and the game "TRYS" to give u a sense of realism.

AI: The AI is average in the game, they do react to you, however sometimes it feels like your completly hidden and to the AI your not, where as othertimes they will shoot randomly into where they think u may be. So at times they are clever where as sometimes they are painfully irritating.

GFX: Ok this game does look nice, on DX10 its frankly quite beautiful, tho some textures do seem to have had alot more attension than others. Rocks for instance looks poor, so does the ground in some areas. However this is not a moan, vegitation, characters and the sky look fantastic. Also vehicals look quite good aswel, with speed gauges that actually work for the 1st time in many fps!

Overall: This game doesnt add anything to the FPS Genre, the suit worked ok, but u find urself using some functions much more than others, and also being frustrated when u run out of a certain skill, Melle combat can be a little buggy i would like to add. All in all if your an fps fan this game would be a solid purchase, but i wouldnt suggest it as a 1st FPS, Half life 2 is still significantly better and COD4 delivers nearly on par gfx with much lower system requirements and much better multiplay.

A Great game, but one hell of a spec required

Top 100 PC Reviewer

I thought I had a great rig, until I got Crysis.

I have an E6750 dual core running at 2.66 gig. 2GB ram, and a 8500gt 512MB graphics card (this is my weak spot). And this game chugs man. And I mean chugs even at 800 x 600.

I have to now invest in an £180 8800gt card just to play this game. That's one expensive game eh?

This game looks absolutely fantastic, it really pushes the envelope. The physics are great fun, to shoot a tree and watch it fall down is some how really satisfying.

It's a standard FPS with a few neat toys and a great world that really lives up to the FarCry tradition. So dropping the resolution just doesn't make sense. This game is great eye candy.

So if you have a lower spec than mine then don't waste your money. Invest in new kit. Get at least an 8800gt and try to get the quad CPU to give you as much of a chance a s possible.

If the future of gaming looks like this then we are in for one hell of a great ride if very expensive.

I would have given 5 stars, it's just that it's probably unplayable for 90% of the PC community.

Wheres the game?

It stops with a sudden ending when your just getting started ie same as HL2 just waiting for a Paid expansion to Feed EA.

Ok looks good but its been hyped and EA-fied wait for the Crytek Far Cry 2 not this poor excuse for a FPS.

Ballistics issues all through the game:

Headshot from close range and target has the chance to run 50 meters.

Empty a clip into someone at close range from any of the weapons and again they run away, even accounting for armour but not the starter soliders just in combats.

Then theres the AI its worse than Farcry's. Soliders don't investigate noises anymore unless they See something linked to the noise, no more throwing something to distract them to get closer.

Then theres issuses with saving at the wrong point and getting stuck as the game has no way out e.g. the VTOL flight missions, lets just say at one point if you stop moving you cant complete the mission as theres a barrier you can Not pass.
