Vault 101 - Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

             A really enjoyable game.

I have to agree with everything NickNR says about Fallout 3 with one exception: I've been running it in Vista X64 for weeks without any problem. Perhaps I'm just lucky; my PC is a couple of years old, so it's not near the top requirement for this game.

I've spent endless hours wandering the beautifully rendered post-apocalyptic landscape, while either attempting to complete one of the many quests or just exploring for fun. The thing I really like about this game is the way you get a sense of freedom about where you go and what you do. I know Fallout 3 has an ending, but I don't feel I'll reach it soon - and I hope I don't.
I'm even enjoying the 1940's music soundtrack and find myself going around humming "Bongo, bongo, bongo"...!!

If you enjoy a good single player game with lots of atmosphere- this is for you.

great game (vista fails this game)

This game should satisfy and fps gamer that wants a bit more to do other than the usual aim and shoot routine and while this game offers that a fair bit, the various tasks you have to run through to get to the final is a welcome addition, along with that your able to be viewed as good or bad based on kamr you recieve for you actions like bad karma for stealing items. This game is definately one that will sit happily in my collection.

One thing I will note is don't bother playing this on vista, even with the update, it will crash like mad, luckily I've got two hd's one of which has xp and it played fantastically for hours on end without ever crashing out.

             RPG not normal FPS

Id just like to say fallout 3 is not your regular FPS, you cant just get a gun and run in and headshot everything when you first start out you have to train up in your weapons which makes this game pretty unique, another thing that makes this game amazing is the customization the modded content for fallout 3 is that of oblivion which is totally amazing the amount of things you can customize and add into the game.

i give fallout 3 a 5/5 because it's exactly what i look for in a game, it's gorey, funny and truly fun to play and it has great replay value also as nothing will be the same twice. Dont be put off by bad review's Fallout 3 is an amazing game.

Fallout 3 is AMAZING. I've ploughed over 300 hours into the game on the Xbox 360, got the GOTY edition on the PS3 and played another 200 hours plus, but the Playstation version suffers from some MAJOR bugs so I've now got the PC version. Games like this should be played on PC. I can't believe the reviewer who said this game is short, it's enormous. There is so much to do, so much to explore and the game is affected differently depending on the routes you take, the decisions you make and the perks you adopt. Atmospheric, compelling, Fallout 3 is possibly my most favourite game of all time. It's certainly the game I have spent the most time playing and now I'm doing it all over again on PC. It isn't an "Oblivion mod", that's moronic. It takes some good concepts from Oblivion and makes them much, much better. True, the combat out of VATS isn't brilliant, but Fallout 3 isn't an FPS, foremost it's an RPG but an action orientated one. If you haven't played this yet you NEED to buy it. It's one of those landmark games that will be looked back on in many years to come as so important. It's awesome, fantastic, brilliant, genius. Five stars.

             Fantastic Adventure!

people make the mistake when buying this game, to play it like its a linear FPS story, but they miss the point completely! this is a world, you are left to explore by yourself, and if you have the patience and time to explore the world you will get so much more enjoyment! its so immense and in-depth, the story is only like 5% of the game and map so go explore like me! i had hours of game time, worth every penny.
this is without a doubt one of the best games ive ever played! might not suit everyone though!
