It's true for me that the recent Need For Speed games peaked with Underground 1 and 2. This iteration retains the freeform city concept, having you roam around discovering the various types of upgrade shop and races to participate in.
The modding of your car has been extended to include direct customisation of body parts, which is a nice touch but ultimately pointless as I found I couldn't be bothered fiddling that much (exceot to create some truly ludicrous-looking car parts for fun!).
Other than this, the only real change in the new game is the "class" system, whereby you choose to participate with Muscle, Tuner, or Exotic cars. Rather than expend the game, this feels more like limitation as you get stuck with a small selection of vehicles based on this choice.
Graphics use more PC power but look no better (the blur and lighting effects are overdone, and simply make the game garish), sound is unchanged, and we're left with a somewhat limited continuation of the franchise rather than a new game. It's fun, but mostly because it's standing on the back of its superior predecessors.
It's a shame, but this looks like it's become another of EA's annually regurgitated cash cows, and I'll be very wary of buying any more.
This was a good game. Liked the vehicles you could get in it, plus the newly introduced muscle cars which had great sound. Good graphics too. Didn't think it was as good as NFS most wanted though.
The characteristics of the cars don't seem realistic, nor arcady. It kinda seems mixed but as a result, it just seems to get boring. I thought this was great for the first few days, when until i unlocked more cars, there wasnt much of a diffreence, it seems a bit of a rushed game. Can get all the cars in probably 16-20 hours of gameplay.
Carbon is an wicked game both 4 story and driving expeince. The driving is spot on and the cars look wicked with the new aultosclupt feature. The story is a little short but it works well in the game. Driving games arnt about the story but the cars and handeling. Is a much better game than the later pro street which focuses to much on damage and realistness than one fun driving.
I fully recommend this game to anyone.
Not as bad as the souless Most Wanted but not as flexible as Underground 2 and not as much simple fun as Hot Pursuit 2. Voice acting is among the worst heard in any game.
