Zeno Clash is set in the punk fantasy world of Zenozoik, a land of exotic places and bizarre creatures. Players take on the role of Ghat, a man banished by his own brothers and forced to begin a desperate journey for survival through the forbidden desert and to the end of the world. Zeno Clash is a unique fighting game mixed with FPS elements.
- Engaging melee combat in first-person:The combat in Zeno Clash is up, close and personal. The new melee combat system allows players to perform a variety of movements like deflect and elude combos, knockback finisher punches and punishing grab attacks.
- Fantastic visuals powered by the source engine: Players will be immersed in a fantastic world, beautiful and disturbing at the same time. The unprecedented art style brings a fresh new approach to the first-person genre. The surreal environments and characters will keep player's wanting to discover more.
- Survival mode challenges: Jump right into the action in engaging unlockable "tower challenges". The player must overcome enemy waves to progress through the tower levels.
- Bizarre weapons: An unusual arsenal of weapons is available for those who can manage to keep the enemy at a range. The eccentric weapons are built from scraps and junk, but they are most effective when used properly.
- Deep Storyline: Zeno Clash is a story driven game. Player's will play the role of Ghat, the son of a impressive hermaphrodite creature called Father-Mother, whose children form the most powerful clan in the city of Halstedom. Ghat must escape from his family and start an incredible journey with his female companion Deadra, who will aid him in the dangerous lands of Zenozoik.

Lovely and arty, pretentious graphics aside, this is a brutal and quite disturbing first person beat 'em up. If this was set in the real world like GTA, it would have been banned. The stylised design and fantastical plot can't hide the fact your knee-smashing a woman in the face one minute, and beating up the mentally ill the next. That said the melee combat works well, and it's quite unlike any game I've played in years.
Good points: Looks & sounds beautiful, creature designs are great, good story & very realistic combat.
Bad points: You need a Steam account to activate it, repetitive gameplay, useless guns, a bit morally dodgy.
Verdict: For a cheapy this is a hugely impressive title that will no doubt have a cult following in the future.
I very much enjoyed this game, apart from the few times I got frustrated with the tough battles, but that's just me. Some people would do better than I did. It was a weird and wonderful experience that held my interest and kept me wanting to see what would come next. It almost reminds me of Wizard of Oz, as you journey through the various places in the game's world, discovering how different it is out there.
Unfortunately it was short, but I kinda feel it was as long as it needs to be.
It was a memorable experience.
