If Supreme Commander was a step forwards in RTS gaming, Supreme Commander 2 is essentially two steps backwards...
Its as if they have taken the first game and dumbed it down in every sense, with the only objective being to make it compatible with games consoles - which makes no sense to me as their target market is PC users.
The graphics have not been improved but instead have been changed so that they look cartoon like in appearance and the scale feels a lot smaller, which eliminates the epic battles from the first subcom game which made it so popular.
Tech one, two and three have been replaced with a tech research tree which has resulted in the game having less regular units and less experimentals, instead you simply upgrade the 12 existing units each race has... which is just terrible in my opinion.
The economic system taken from the games original predecessor 'Total Annihilation', a key aspect of that made supreme commander a revolutionary step forwards, has been completely ditched in supcom 2.
Its as if the game developers have tried to incorporate aspects of the command & conquer series of games in order to the give subcom 2 mass appeal, however all they have achieved is to alienate original fans and create a less than average RTS... personally I blame Square Enix.
