Torchlight

Torchlight is a hack n slash dungeon crawler where the gameplay is very similar to the huge successful Blizzard title Diablo 1 & 2.

Torchlight seems very much like a clone, however that doesn't stop this game being a great and addictive game to play!

Players can pick out of 3 classes, Destroyer, Alchemist and Vanquisher.

Every character has 3 talent trees with different skills so you can customize your character in anyway you wish.

Gameplay works the same way as Diablo, you enter a dungeon and start smashing everything in your way, gaining items and leveling up your character. After reaching the end of the dungeon, you'll be introduced to a boss battle!

There are a few things in Torchlight which are not in Diablo. You have a wolf/cat following you around who will fight beside you and carry items in his bag, think of him as a portable bank. Levels randomize everytime you enter them, making it a new adventure everytime you enter. There are fishing spots which I've never bothered to use.

Torchlight is jam packed full of action and it feels great destroying hordes of enemies watching their bodies turn into a puddle of blood, great stuff.

Torchlight comes with a editor so you can create your own maps!!

Torchlight doesn't get a 5 star because there isn't a multiplayer mode whatsoever.

This game will remind you of WoW straight away, well why? Because it is made by the same artists, so the graphics are very colourful, very cartoony.... and well a hack and slash similar to Sacred, Titan Quest, Diablo 2 of course and so on.

If you did play Warcraft and the WOrld of Warcraft you will feel quite at home, has similar skill tree, where you can pick from 3 branches and specialize in one or jack of all trades. Look galore like the other games, but this time you have a nifty option of putting the loot you want to sell in your pet's inventory and sending them to the town to sell it.

The only slight bad point is that you can only select 3 preset characters, cannot change their looks and they are 2 male and 1 female... so yeah just like Diablo or Sacred. On the other hand the game has lots and lots of mods out there which add extra pets, extra classes new maps and so on. The game also has a world editor with it so you can create your own campaigns or maps.

Overall the game is worth considering if you like the hack and slash genre.

I think the previous reviewer had it right but the game is certainly graphically better and plays very well on full specifications. I had everything maxed out on my rig and the game was beautiful to look at and the gameplay was execellent and you can't always say that about new games.
The fishing is fun because that is randomised and you don't know what you will land. You can feed yourself or turn your pet into other animals or monsters for a short time with what you land. The weapons and clothing are good and varied and can be enchanted by enchanters or enhanced with gems found in the game.
The musical score is good and Jowood have produced a great game that may be inspired by Diablo but is so much more.
