The Witcher: Enhanced Edition - Platinum Edition

The Witcher is a stunning achievement and provides us at last with a true adult adventure and a totally serious main character. However it is the supporting cast of characters that make the game what it is as they provide dozens of quests and flesh out a fantastic world which is put over by spot on graphics and animations that complete a totally believable world. This enhanced edition adds more of everything and is a terrific improvement over the original edition and is a must play even if you have already completed the original.

Superb game (Platinum Edn) - amazingly groovy game company

I sometimes just stand in the village of Vizima and watch the sun go down - the graphics in this game are that good. I have absolutely no idea why this game isnt one of the best selling of all time, because IMHO its waaay better than Oblivion and the usual D&D knock offs. The story is reassuringly in the classic goodie and baddie vein. You play The Witcher Garalt and with your magic sword and potions slay all the monsters in sight. There is a good little story line too if you need such things. The fighting is easy - click the enemy once and a while and Garalt goes to work on those arteries (or whatever monsters have instead) The CEOs of the game makers also have a VERY groovy attitude to piracy (which they published in the forum on the witcher dot com website - other companies (and WE all know who you are) should take note. - Each time I fire up this game I DONT need the disc and I DONT need an internet connection -FAB!!!

 Wow!

Wonderful game! I've not read any of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels before, but the game allowed me to quickly acquaint myself with the deep slavic fantasy world that Sapkowski has created.
The plot is deep and non-linier which allows the player to choose many ways to play through the game with the use of a delayed consequence system which enables the player to feel that the actions that they make effects the world of the Witcher.
The game is not without its faults though: some areas may have not been optimised as well as they could have been, causing lag in some areas, though this is not a major issue.
I am not an avid PC gamer, but the game was able to run at playable frame rates on my modest rig (High settings, no AA, 1366x768 resolution, running on an overclocked 9800gt and a Core 2 Duo E7600), although I suppose the graphics are not exactly "cutting edge" compared to other games on the market now days.
The bonus missions which are included are worth a play through too. Don't be expecting the same level of depth which you find in the main body of the game, but they're still fun.
All in all, a great game with a deep mature plot that doesnt shy away from many adult themes (I feel the 18 certificate is well justified) which I thoroughly enjoyed. Top quality gaming from CDProjectRED. Can't wait for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in May!
