It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Players take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and will use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal, re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun - the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.

Shogun 2: Total War will feature enhanced full 3D battles via land and sea, which made a name for the series, as well as the tactical campaign map that many refer to as the heart and soul of Total War. Featuring a brand new AI system inspired by the scriptures that influenced Japanese warfare, the millennia old Chinese "Art of War", the Creative Assembly brings the wisdom of Master Sun Tsu to Shogun 2: Total War. Analysing this ancient text enabled the Creative Assembly to implement easy to understand yet deep strategic gameplay.

  • Shogun 2: Total War - Limited Edition delivers instant access to exclusive and free content to both the single player and multiplayer modes of the game

Shogun 2: Total War - Limited Edition Includes:
  • Exclusive ninja clan - The Hattori clan are masters of the Iga-ryu ninjutsu - a unique collection of martial skills and guerrilla techniques. This additional in-game faction is only available in the Limited Edition and includes the most powerful battlefield ninja units
  • Extra historical scenario - The Battle of Nagashino saw an alliance between the Oda and Tokugawa clans clashing against the legendary Takeda clan in 1575. Takeda was ultimately defeated but, as in all Total War battles, victory lies in your hands and by playing one of these three factions you can repeat history... or even rewrite it!
  • Special armour for your avatar - This complete set of armour will make your General's avatar stand out on the battlefield and will reward you with the Bad Omen retainer that affects morale to enemy ashigaru (foot soldier) units, giving you a competitive advantage online.
  • Bank account of XP for your avatar - Only the Limited Edition owners will be able to start their General's avatar at a higher level, with instant access to one upgrade point to spend on special skills or traits

Shogun 2: Total War - Limited Edition

  • 9 Playable clans ranging from the large and powerful to the tiny and weak - Take charge of any of the nine major factions of Japanese feudal history, from the mighty Oda to the more delicate but well positioned Tokugawa clan. All of these clans could rise to take the position of Shogun under your leadership
  • Brand new siege mechanics vastly improved over Napoleon and Empire - Japanese siege warfare is markedly different form its European equivalent. Castles are now elaborate death traps, with the enemy being invited in to attempt to destroy the defender. Defenders and attackers now have multiple options, paths and objectives within a siege and a larger number of castle types make this all the more elaborate and strategic
  • Much improved terrain and environments, mountains in battle and new environments - Shogun 2s terrain system is brand new to deal with the Japanese landscape and the radically different topography it presents the player with

Great game again by the Total war team. I've played every total war since the start, and after the dissapointing Empire, which was 'OK', this was a refreshing return to the good old sword fighting battles i loved. Fantastic gameplay, with a change in the compaign map compared to previous titles that a don't want to spoil. The reccomended specs on other websites have been quite high, but don't worry, the miniumum specs are fine, and i personally play with some settings on medium to provide smoother gameplay. Even on the best computers, things can lagg. Anyway, Great game, must buy.

 Good fun

Was a huge fan of the first game and I have to say this one has lived up to expectations. Have only played the campaign so far but it has been very fun. The AI looks good and the battles are epic. Castle attack and defence is very fun! Still need to try multiplayer. If you have a good PC also the graphics can be very nice especially for a strategy game.

For that person whining about installing it from steam for 6 hours.. if you bought the game with the disc you can install it from disc you dont have to do it through steam. Just gotta use your brain ;)

 Very Tedious installation

The game is powered by Steam which is a measure protection that i find inconvenient and intrusive : It requires live connection to launch the game, force you to install any update, you cannot chose the directory. The update was very slow and it took hours to install despite i had installed it from DVD.
I do not think i ll be buying any more games with Steam.

Please Play.com include a backcover of the game so we can see which game require internet connection before buying.

Once installation was complete, the game seemed ok with nice graphics.

After playing the demo to check weather this game couold work I looked forward to its release and bought it then found out I had to use steam to install the game which took 6hours. Finally finnishing I played only to have the game lag, plus I enjoy the map layout on medieval total war 2 and the previous games rather than this as the figures are to big and in my opinion abit more complex with the layout.overall prob my computers fault but i shouldnt have to wait 6hours due to steam to play a game i've bought.
