After playing the Open beta for the last 2 weeks I can honestly say this is one of the best MMORPGs I have played, however, there are quite a few bugs and glitches, which should be fixed by the release in 5 days.
The biggest problem is the complete lack of content there is nothing at all to do all guild leves are easily done in 30mins to an hour and thats it for multiplayer and then youve got to grind your way up to lv 10-20 your better off on your own for grinding because you get much more xp to unlock more story quests that are just talking to a couple of npcs. I spent ages exploring and I found towns out in the distance and I got excited and when I got there there was nothing there. No quests no shops no interesting dialog with the npcs what the hell. I am a huge Final Fantasy fan I have played almost all of them and I am NOT a WOW fan and Ive got to say that if this is what the game is then its the worst MMO ever made. It feels like its in very early BETA like its 6 months to a year away and that they just want you to test out some crafting which I do like and a couple of guild leves. I cannot find any side quests to do me and my friends searched loads of websites and forums and could not find any there are none. There is no reason to explore the main cities has there are no side quests to be found there. There is just such a lack of content and I wish I didnt waste 40 on this.
Reading the other reviews regarding specs, I agree that you do need a powerful PC. You'll need dual core at least, then you'll have to knock down the settings a bit.
Strange really when there are graphically superior games out now which will fly on the same machine. There is also a common known bug, and it is a bug, that's the 'direct x cannot find a device' bug when playing in-game. It crashes to desktop. The only way, apparently to solve it is to play in windowed mode, but then some have reported that it even crashed then.
This should be a good game in a few months. Also a small niggle, the tumbler had its leatherette cover on upside down! Easily sorted but guess the contents must have been good!
Been playing for 5 days now and i can honestly say i hoped better from s.e, They had bench marks from all other mmorpg inc there still running ff11. (which i played for 7 years) There are so many things this game lacks: 1. No Aucction house 2. Controling the camera view with the mouse 3. Bad comunication with other players. 4. No tutorial to mention a few. A year ago i never heard of this game and now its out, It just seems rushed out for me and has a beta feeling to it, But on a good note u cant fault the graphics and i play this on a 3 year old Pc and it runs fine and looks amazing. I just find myself logging off when i should be glued to this. Maybe Square enix should have waited to get this polished abit more before disappointing there fans.
Most of us want a MMORPG that will last us a very long time, a game that we can come back too over the course of several years, or even when we're much older and want something to revisit happy times when playing the game.
Look no further. Using Final Fantasy XI as an example, Final Fantasy XI launched in Japan late 2002 and is still going relatively strong today. This is the Final Fantasy appeal.
Final Fantasy 14 expands greatly on the Final Fantasy 11 formula, offering a rich vibrant world, an improved battle system, improved sounds, graphics, virtually everything is improved.
This game is fun to play, and for a very long time will be supported with regular updates, new quests, new areas, things like that.
If you're looking for a game to sink yourself into for the next god knows how many years, you've found it.
The Limited Edition pack as noted is very high quality, great value for money and a must for every Final Fantasy fan.
This game is awesome.
