4.5 Unplayable on PC beatmagician | 15/07/2012 | See all beatmagician's reviews (1) Having experienced GTA IV on the XBOX I thought I would buy the game for my PC with all the DLC content. What a Mistake that was!Although Rockstars GTA series is a great series they have let themsleves down hugely with this terrible product. Have Played GTA IV on botht eh XBOA and Playstation 3 I can safely say this is a great game, however Rockstars attempt to put this title on the PC has gone horribly wrong. The game is playable once installed on your rig but once Game for Windows Live kicks in you're presented with a patch update. You will get these on consoles but they actually work on consoles. Once updated you will be unable to play the gome through your keyboard and mouse configuration or through a gamepad as any update made will cause the controls not function properly making the game unplayable. And don't even think about installing Episodes for Liberty City. You will have the same issues. If you want to play through this game you will have to make sure that you don't perform any updates. This will cause problems when trying to save the game as Windows live will sign you out and tell you that you are unable to save the game unless you update. There is a way around it and that's making sure that you are signed into Windows live in 'Offline' mode. Sometimes hard to do if you are always connected online.I have been told through an online support forum the GTA IV is notorious for control problems on the PC and that Rockstar have failed to address these problems since the games launch. Don't even bother getting in touch with Rockstar support becasue they won't even reply to you.I would reccomend if anyone is looking to buy this game don't buy it for the PC. Buy it for Xbox or Playstation 3 and you will have problem free gaming of this title. You Have Been Warned!
