I have been a fan of the Mount and Blade games every since I tried the first of the series .

They are addictive fun, featuring a richly detailed campaign map where you can roam with your small warband raiding or helping villages, joining factions, taking on bandits, raiders and cuthroats or join a faction and take part in the ongoing wars.

There is a lot of rpg elements in the game from npcs that join you and level up with you, to recruiting villagers from the campaign map and training them into hardened troops, which you get to choose different types as they level up.

The battles are great fun from a 3rd person view, you can charge into the enemy, strike them from their horse, parry attacks with your sword or block with your shield, or draw your bow/gun and shoot them from ranged on foot or horse back, whilst your own troops fight and fall alongside you. it's all there and very challenging. There is even sieges that are great fun to take part in, just don't get too attached to your troops!

You can also upgrade your wpns, armour and mount as you progress through the levels. And choose your skills as you earn new levels from experience points earned.

Try this game you won't be disapointed!

It really is worth picking up this game. It's still the same game engine, but there are quite a few tweaks. Muskets are a very nice addition - got to love pulling out your pistol and shooting a pursuing cavalryman. All the weapons and armors are new, and look very nice on the battlefield, as do the new hireable troops(musketeers, hussars, halberdiers and pikeman to name a few). There are several factions to join, genuine 17th century ones, including The Polish Republic and Muscovite Tsardom; or you can go your own as in the previous game and start your own faction. Definately worth getting, especially for only 10 pounds!
