Having visited the official Simcity website and viewed the videos I have discovered that the game would be fantastic in all it's glory with one exception. You are required to have a persistent internet connection whilst playing the game. If EA decided that they would de-activate their servers in the future, the game would become useless. This could be the biggest letdown feature of the game. Hopefully EA will decide to change this feature before the game is release or a patch in the future to make the game playable offline in the future.
I was lucky enough to play the beta, and I can tell you it is amazing, smaller cities make it easier to manage, and its a lot more detailed then people know, best yet, I play cities XL and pretty much ever other city sim out there and I can say this is one of the best
EA wasted completely the Simcity Series with this game!
The biggest positive thing about this game? Graphic, is very nice to see buildings in your cities, but all the rest? EA forgot something.
Small cities, DRM Always Online, cartoon style graphic (really?!?) and super NON-Realistic cities.
Conclusion: Better Graphic, Poor Gameplay, like Cities XL. If you really want a game like this, buy SIMCITY 4: Deluxe Edition. I'm sorry to tell you, ma this isn't a good game.
Bye! :)
I've no way of knowing if EA will require an always on connection to play this game but even if they did the comments about the game can hardly be classed as a review. The beta testers comments are at least based on someone actually playing the game. These aren't reviews, just indiviuals griping about something that might or might not actually happen. I think I'll come back when the game is actually released and find out what proper players actually think.
Like the previous reviewer commented, if EA decides to shut the servers down this game becomes obsolete. You can find comments about EA shutting down servers within a year on various forums. This is one of the reasons why I will wait on buying this game until Maxis puts in an offline version.
