  Scary, challenging, satisfying

Played this after finishing its sequel. You can see the progress. Ep2 is a better game, but this is the perfect setup for it. Full of really scary moments. The main difference between this game and Black Plague is the limited combat. Its fun but not really a big part of the game. The real thrill are some of the great setpiece sequences that have you truly thinking on your feet if your character is not to die. There is one sequence of fiendishly clever and bowel dropping traps that you will love to be frustrated by while being chased by an army of spiders. Did someone say spiders.... I hate spiders!

The real challenge of course is survival and to survive you will need your all wits with you as you explore the fantastic environment in which this game is set. You will need to locate items, listen to clues, find the next piece of the puzzle to go on and on and help poor ol' Red.

While the puzzles are logical enough so that you wont be trapped for long, there are a few really challenging puzzles that really do make you think and top the whole experience off.

Connecting the whole set of locations, puzzles and confrontations is a fabulous story with a convincing central question that will keep you playing for hours on end, until you just get past the next puzzle.

As survival horror/adventure games go this is great fun, interesting with some new ideas and great physics engine that allows you to manipulate the enviroment in many ways, and provides an immersive feel to the experience.

Definitely worth a 4/5 and worth getting.

As well as this game, there are two more in the series (at time of writing this) - Black Plague - available on Play.com and Requiem which is download only.

However, i suspect that an anthology of the three games are in the pipeline for the sometime in future. If you cant wait, get them now, because there isnt anything quite like this game out there.......

  Scary as all hell

The controls on this game are innovative, rather than a drawer magically opening when you click it, you have to hold down the mouse and pull it open and so on. It's interesting, though a little clunky at times.

The graphics are a little substandard, but what do you expect from a small independent developer? The atmosphere is where this game really shines. It scared the hell out of me on more than a few occasions.

Highly recommended.
