In 1996, the original Tomb Raider was launched. The 3D game design, controls and graphics were truly ground breaking for their time. Furthermore, gamers were also presented with a unique, female human playable character with whom they could become emotionally attached, Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider sold over seven million copies and is still heralded as an absolute classic and one of the best action adventure games ever!
Inspired by the original Tomb Raider video game; Tomb Raider: Anniversary faithfully preserves the elements which made the original Tomb Raider game such a classic.
Using an enhanced "Tomb Raider: Legend" game engine, the graphics, technology and physics bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artefact known only as the Scion right up to today's technology standards and will offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience.

I am a huge Tomb Raider and Lara Croft fan, and when i discovered that there was a remake of the original, i was a bit sceptical at first. However when i played this game i relised, it was fantastic! This game bring the original to life and is a great game for first time Tomb Raiders. The plot is execellent, the game play is awesome and the characters are terrific. This is now, one of my favourite games of all time.
Beautiful game, but not fun enough for replay

I didn't play the original TR game, so I can't say whether it's true to the original story or not. This game has very nice graphics and a story line that connects the various missions in a logical way of sorts. I like the fact that you kill less people than in Legend, and solving puzzles, short ones and more time-consuming ones, is of course as always the reason to play. Going through the missions is not too difficult, but getting all the extras made me get some help from walk-throughs, since I did not consider the game fun enough to play several times. At the current price (11€) at play.com you'll get good value for money, though.
Great remake

Tomb Raider Anniversary is a great remake of the original 1996 game, it totally updates all the features of the game taken from Tomb Raider Legend and makes things even better. The levels are really well designed and graphics and sound are both terrific, there is some good combat as well (with the inclusion of the timed arrow key moments were you have to make a decision to get out of a trap).
Perhaps the only snags are toward the end of the game the difficulty level gets a bit tough and often you have to repeat sequences toward the end which gets a bit frustrating. The game is also missing some of the humour which made Legend so much fun (as it is a pretty much strict-ish remake).
But overall this is highly enjoyable entertaining Lara game and definitely worth it!
