 Good... but...

Both these episodes are great add ons to the brilliant game that is half life 2, great gameplay, excellent story, fantastic graphics. Just don't expect to be playing the game for any length of time. 15 hours of gameplay? Yes that is possible... if you walked everywhere!! Episode 1 is very short, i think it took me around 3 hours to complete... and i didn't exactly rush though it either. Episode 2 is a bit longer, but still very short... took me about 5 hours to complete... so that's 8 hours of gameplay compared to the advertised 15. hmmmm....

Is it worth 15 quid? in my opinion... no, but if you are an avid half life fan and for some reason you havn't played these yet, then go for it... just don't be surprised when you complete it just as you were getting into it.

Half-Life was a mile stone, half-life almost.
It has a great graphics engine, it has a great storyline, it has great (voice) acting, it's a rollercoasterride that's over much too soon -just like the real ones...

Thank the Maker there are the episodes. For a small amount of money we can enkoy more of half-life... especially in deals such as this (10.5 euro's per episode).

You can claim that slicing up games like this, ends in paying 1.5 times the price of a single game ...however, in this case, it's well worth it.

I believe the best think to do is to buy the orange box for less than 50 euros, it contains HL2 and E1&E2. That way, you get to play the game for a fair price and you get to play it as I feel it should have been... a rollercoaster that doesn't make you think: " ..done already?"

Those darn headcrabs!/Nice told with Alyx

EPISODE 1 starts immediately where Half-Life 2 ended. Basically it's more of the same, and that's more than welcome to a fan like me. If you want to know what I thought of HL2 I refer the reader to that review. Suffice it to say I loved it and Episode 1, although not as memorable as its predecessor, is still enormous fun to play. The only criticism I have of this episode is that Valve haven't given the narrative development as much thought as they did in HL2 and will do again in HL2 Episode 2. Still great fun though.

HALF-LIFE 2 EPISODE 2 starts immediately where Half-Life 2 Episode 1 ended. Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance must continue their fight, alongside the resistance, against the evil Combine. After the ever so slightly below par Episode 1, Episode 2 is a real return to form. Everything that was so good about HL2 is developed here and made even better. The narrative arc is strong, the dialogue well-written and witty, the voice acting accomplished and convincing, the environments spectacular and varied, and the mix between puzzle solving and combat just right. We meet several new enemies and some of the combat is pretty challenging, especially the final battle which is big on scale and mayhem and requires real strategy to complete. It's a tough finale but well worth the effort. There's so much to enjoy in the whole Half-Life series I can't recommend these games enough.

half life was a mile stone of a game. If you've never played the origional then get out there and buy it now. Then buy half life 2 and marvel at the excellence it provides. Epic shooter with story driven action. senic levels with enough diversity to make each a treat. smart tatic AI to test your skills and some innovative wepons make the game a winner. Anyhow as for the add-ons.... the story continues, much of the same, the first is a little short but hey, still great fun.

 Brilliant
