Okay as a game this is pretty good, much like the original starcraft but made more presentable however I want to warn potential buyers that this game has been confirmed to be released as 3 seperate titles which all be full priced. For me this blatant money making con puts the game down so many points, if each part costs 35 pounds then the final cost of owning starcraft 2 will be 105 pounds excluding any extra fees. It's a disgusting attempt at choking money out of gamers who would normally be loyal to the series after having loved the original for many years. Personally I'd urge gamers to avoid but this will not happen and Blizzard will replicate this way of marketing with future products.
I am only interested in the single player campaign.
Graphics are really dated looking, effects are lame, buildings still have square footprint and can only be placed in one direction. Music during missions so bad and inappropriate it got switched off immediately. Story doesn't get well explained, cut scenes bore me, characters leave me unemotional towards them. Two stars only because for some reason I yet felt compelled to complete the campaign. That must mean something.
Some people are negative that SC2 is in three parts. But who cares? If each part is the same size as a full game - then all they are doing is not naming the other parts Starcraft 3 & 4. This game so far is pretty massive so as long as you get your money's worth from it who cares its in three parts - it actually gives something to look forward to. Would you have been disappointed with World of Warcraft when it came out as that was in different parts? No - because they were all massive!
Not a major player of this genre, but I am really enjoying this. Its simply and quite intuitive. I am running it on a 27" iMac i5 with 8GB RAM with everything set to high and it absolutely flies along. Very pleased with it.
Well worth a purchase for PC players and especially for Mac players (due to limited other titles available due to Mac not being a core gaming machine)
great game but few niggles 1/ the need to have an internet connection and take out a battle net account even if you dont play online gaming 2/ no lan support you can only play via battle net
dont get me wrong this game is nothing short of a miracle. it has good graphics undastandable controles and the rest but blizzad have been just a tad lazy. the units really havnt been changed or "upgraded" alot of this stuff was on the old game but that isnt the dissapointing part because dispite that it makes it easyer to get into so anyone can play it. the dissapointing bit is you dont get to play the zerg or the hybrid in the campain and only get a few missions with the protos which is a bummer and also an open ending what a shocker lol. looks like blizzard is either going to leave us hanging or milk starcraft again. god only knows what they are doing to diablo 3 hasnt he died already? anyway its a good buy but remember it could have an expansion at a later date if not i will not be happy. :)
