New Civ IV gamers - you are so lucky - this is sooo cheap! I got into Civ via Civ III. Civ IV - I was hooked, so much so that when I lost my Civ IV Warlords disc I bought it again from this site! I'm now hooked on Beyond the Sword. I'm rather miffed that you can get the lot for the same price I paid for the last expansion pack but that's life! Buy this and you won't have one! Best value and fun game I've ever bought (and I've been gaming since my ZX81!) It runs on my laptop (NVidia 6200 chipset) and looks fab on my 8800GTS (640MB) PC. Enjoy.
Having owned Civ4, and been very frustrated at how easy it was to finish and then also how annoying it was to miss the space race and lose in 100 turns left!.
The Civ4 expansion does more then just add a few items to the game, it completes the game.
- New leader traits
- 6 new civilizations (new leaders)
- 8 new scenarios
- 3 new world wonders
- Allowing the Civ race to continue into space (option to continue without having to end in 100 turns).
All in all i would say Civ4 was uncomplete!, Civ4 Complete is the game to get!
when i first tried a civ game i was much younger and it confused me so much i just put it away and vowed never to play one again however now iam much older and driven by a need for a new type of game i found myself staring at a copy of the civ 4 complete edition after much study and alot of thinking about would it be worth getting i picked it up paied for it and braught it home and oh wow iam so glad i game the civ series another try
graphics: well for what the game is and how it plays they couldn`t be any better if you zoom right in you can see great detail on the units and citys
sound: with clasical music in the background and great effects from your citys and units plus excellant voice acting from lenord nimoy and sid mier himself it brings the game to life
gameplay: ok how do i explain this you start with a civilization you found your first city from there you found more citys build workers to make towns and farms along iwth other things that are spread across each randomley generated map .... you can then go on to chosse your path either make peace with allies or build an army and crush them the great thing about this game is that its never predictable other civilizations will always supprise you in how they will react for example the beyond the sword expanstion brings and elemant of dark diplomacy and espionage a your foes have learnt to fight beyond the normal realms of sending huge armies at you and warlords adds you great generals that you can use to lead armies and conuer your foes .....it would take forever to explain all the gameplay in this game and i mean that litiraly
Longevity: forever this game will run your life sometiems only a few turns seam to of been made and hours have past its very addictive you will not stop playing especialy when your civilization is on the brink of victory or destruction
overall: as i said i took alot of time to think before i got this but iam glad i gave the series another go don`t be put of by how complex it sounds or by its turn based stratergy this is a fantastic game and should be tried at least once by everyone
the 'games for windows' label is meant to be a confirmation that the game is vista ready. yet when installed on vista it says there are 'known compatibility issues' with civilisation IV and refuses to run, so i dont get it at all. just to reiterate, NOT compatible with windows vista and this is a known compatibility issue so should NOT be marketed as 'games for windows'. not good at all IMO
I've played Civ since 1992. Civ II became an instant favourite that Civ III did not quite beat. Civ IV though, which I started playing more than three years ago, was even better than Civ II. At the current bargain price of €12.99 (including the expansions) you simply cannot go wrong buying this box. Best game ever. Thoroughly addictive ("Just one more turn!"). Best replayability I've ever seen. Lowest cost per hour of gameplay. And yes, I run it on Vista with 1920x1080 resolution and all settings on high without any problems. Get this game. Now.
