 Great game!

I've been running the game on a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo, 4gb RAM with VISTA 64 and a 1GB nVidia GTX280 at max settings 1920 * 1080 with no framerate issues at all.

The game is great fun overall and deserves top marks. Its a bit slow at first, but after you get a few missions into the game and get a few of the upgrades to your running, jumping and gliding you will be zipping about like a true superhero.

The powers are inventive and a lot of fun, once you get them upgraded you will be amazed how sick some of them are. The Whipfist power upgraded to Street Sweeper is amazingly gory!

The controls are pretty easy to get used to, I've not used the keyboard and mouse yet, I've been using an xbox 360 controler instead. The ability to lock onto the most dangerous units on the screen makes running combat possible with ease.

The game starts out easy enough, but it definitely doesnt stay easy. The enemies get tougher as you progress, they send more units after you, which hit harder and have more health, so you will need to make use of all those beefed up powers. Working out which powers suit each situation is important, as the combat is tactical and not just mindless button mashing.

An example is your Whipfist power, which turns your arm into a massive clawed whip. It's great for taking down helicopters and clearing crowds, but you are in serious trouble if you try using it to take down a tank.

Consuming people to gain their memories and powers is also great just to see the 'fatality' animations. The animation varies depending on what power you have selected at the time. Consuming people whilst using muscle mass power makes Alex tear his victim in half, and with the claw power you push the poor persons head down into their chest cavity, or slice them in two like he does in the intro cinematic (which is one of my favourite intro's ever)!

Small touches in the game like the public's reactions to you running about mutated, and the slow-motion that kicks in when you are switching targets and powers are great. Sure, it wont win any graphics awards, but this game is all about the gameplay. The story I've seen so far isn't anything new (no surprise there), but it is relevant to the gameplay.

The challenges are nice and varied too, ranging from practicing your wall jumping skills to all out war whilst allied to the military or the mutants.

This game is a surprise hit, and the best thing I've played in a long time. Definitely worth 5 stars.

Best freescape game around, for those how like choice in how

For me this is the best 'Go anywhere' games since Spiderman 2. The missions have more then one solution, which removes from the repepition you find in the GTA games. I love the powers and the hugh variety and depth of side missions. I haven't played many games of this type, which may be half the reason I enjoy this one so much. Get it now!

Top 100 Games Reviewer

Everyone knows being bad is fun, and this game is pure evil!! This may sound like a bold statement but, I don't think there has ever been a game before that gave you as much freedom. You are literally set free on a city with the power to decimate everything you see, and what you see is the whole of Manhattan. Your character has been endowed with every super hero power in history from super strength (Hulk) and retractable claws (Wolverine) to Spidey sense (Spidey) and the power of flight; well almost you get to glide great distances (Squirrel). The story is intriguing if a little obvious at times and in most part is delivered through a "Web of Intrigue" this is where your acquired memories are stored. These are acquired from key characters that you "consume". There is no moral system so you are left to decide whether you want to "Destroy or Deceive". You can go with stealth by consuming someone and adopting their identity or wade on in there all guns blazing. The game is full of "Whoa!" "Kewl!" moments and the first time you perform the Hammer Fist Elbow Drop on a tank you'll whoop like a cheerleader!

 Surprising

I thought this game might be a very bland console port aimed at kids. It's fookin brilliant fun. Well worth it and very playable. Recommended.

Open city which deteriorates into mass panic and carnage

Manhattan Island is undergoing an outbreak of a mutatagenic virus; as the game plays through the three weeks of infection, you will see the bustling civililian lifestyle, yellow taxis and casual police patrols turn into isolated pockets of mutant rioting with police rushing in to save civilians, through to full-scale military involvement attacking the mutant Hives at the heart of the hotspots with tanks and gunships.

Your character Alex, also a mutant, still retains his own sense of purpose. Not only can he hijack military vehicles, he can make use of a delicious array of evolutionary upgrades that become available as you play. Alex becomes almost God-like in his capabilities; running up skyscrapers, deflecting bullets and shrugging-off tank shells, whipping helicopters from the sky with a 80m tentacle, destroying military bases with Earth-shattering "devastator" attacks or infiltrating heaviliy occupied territory by way of shape-shifting to mimic your opponents freshly consumed corpse.

Granted, the graphics are pretty average and story deliberately confusing, but the sheer fun in the gameplay is undeniable.
