Coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film's original theatrical release, Ghostbusters: The Video Game reunites original cast members to recapture the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation. Penned by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings members of the original cast together for the first time in 20 years. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. Players will have the chance to chase, attack, and catch ghosts in a funny and frightening battle to save New York from its latest supernatural plague.

Authentic Ghostbusters Experience: The game features the voices and in-game likenesses of Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson in an original story penned by the writers of the original films Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.

Unique Gameplay: Experience unique ghost hunting, wrangling and trapping with upgradeable weapons in widely destructible environments and large scale boss fights.

All-New Storyline: Set two years after Ghostbusters II, the game will feature an all-new storyline as the player battles and captures well-loved and brand new ghosts throughout New York.

Ghostbusters 25th Anniversary: 2009 celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the original theatrical release of Ghostbusters. To mark the occasion, Ghostbusters: The Video Game will be released, and Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be released on Blu-ray disc.

        Top 100 Games Reviewer

I watched the first ghostbusters film as a kid and loved it, so when this came out I had to give it a go.
The game is good fun and a refreshing twist on the standard 3rd person shooter. The story could have been ghostbusters 3, which is what you feel your playing. You visit many places you'll recognise if you've seen the films such as, your firestation office, the hotel where Venkman gets slimed and the public library, and not to spoil it, some new and pretty strange places as well.
(you'll notice the freeky painting from ghostbusters 2 is in your office, you can even talk to it!)
The visuals are soild, but not stunning, but the effects like your weapons are great.
The sound effects are excellent. (spot on proton pack noise, straight out of the movies)
The voice acting and scripts are great, with all the original actors.
It does have a console feel to it, but its also a reasonably long game.
In summery, its good solid fun, especially if you loved the films.

         Makes me feel 7 again!

Playing this game takes me back to when i first saw Ghostbusters. Unlike most games based on films the story truly can stand up on its own and the gameplay is great. Only negative is the controls are slightly awkward on a laptop but problem solved with a gamepad!

         Better than expected

I avoided this game after it was released on console well before pc
(even though there was no reason stagger the release, just another way to annoy pc owners). So having seen how cheap it is now,i decided to take a gamble on it ,and i wasn't dissapointed

         Disappointed

Yes it is all very nice and reminds you of the film etc, but to be honest that wears off very quickly which leaves you with what games strive to have: gameplay. Unfortunately this is where the game falls on its behind. The game is very linear and you don't have any chance to wander off the beaten track. When it comes to capturing the ghosts, most the time I felt like I was not even participating and just firing randomly at the ghosts had the same effect. I'm afraid as a novelty item its all "OK" but as a serious gamer, I'm afraid not.
