  Very good game

This is no doubt a very good game. There are a lot of improvements from the Sims 2, but also some things I don't like. For one, you are limited, initially, to just 1 town, and you can't zoom into any of the roads to get better views of the houses. This is frustrating if you are building a house and can't remember where it is! You also cannot save houses you are building until you get back to the town view, which is very frustrating.

This game can't be played on a lot of PC's due to the high specs required, and I don't think the game is good enough to force an upgrade just to be able to play it.

However, that said, game play is more realistic and you can visit other lots, neighbours etc. from wherever you are. You also have a lot more control over designing Sims and houses which is a big plus.

All in all, this is a good game and worth the cost. Personally I prefer The Sims 2, but that could be just because I've played it for so long and am more used to it.

TS£: A great follow-up to the previous games

I've been playing The Sims franchise since it came out. The Sims 2 was a huge improvement from the first one, and this one is even better.

The graphics are fairly realistic, and you have a lot of great options to create sims themselves, including personalities, looks and voices.

The build mode also has a lot more options, although it's still fairly similar to TS2. The best feature in this regard, for me, would be Create a Style/Pattern. It's much easier to coordinate your furniture and homes, and you aren't stuck with the same ugly patterns anymore.

The gameplay itself takes some getting used to, especially if you haven't played any of The Sims games before. However, it doesn't take long to learn the basics and once you do, it's easy to play. One thing about the gameplay, is that it has Story Progression - and even with this option turned off, the sims in other houses you aren't controlling will age, die and if pregnant. have children. I've gotten used to this, and don't mind it. But if you prefer the way TS2 was set-up with regards to controlling families, then the new gameplay will likely turn you off TS3.

Overall, it's a very good game for what it is, and I'd definitely recommend it.

I thought sims 2 was great and a massive improvement on the sims. But they've pulled out all the stops now with the sims 3. I love the freedom you have in designing your homes and placing things diagonally. With no loading screens too, it makes gameplay much easier. There is nothing to fault about this game, except it is so addictive!

  Brilliant game!!

This game is brilliant and you should SO buy it. It's an investment game and I have spent many hours playing this. I can never stop when I'm on it. I love this game!!! I have also bought the Sims Ambitions, Late Night and most recently Generations, I also has World Adventures but this wasn't so good. If you liked Sims 2 you will love Sims 3.... it is leaps and bounds ahead of it!!! Buy this game and if you can the expansion packs too..... they are amazing!!

  Addictive, brilliant gaming.

I think the worst thing that you can do is compare this game to The Sims 2, as they are nothing alike, they are both brilliant in their own different ways.
At first I wasn't impressed with the game, as I felt like it was lacking in aspects. However, after a day on and off the game I really got into it. For instance, the life cycle is a lot more realistic as you have toddlers for 7 days etc. Another great aspect is that you don't have to constantly rely on making endless friends to progress in a career, but rather get extra little tasks to do round town if you wish and do "extra credit" activities such as making homecalls if you are a doctor out of hours. At the start I found the seamless loading screens unimpressive as I personally didn't find them a big problem in The Sims 2. However, as relationships with other Sims progress, your family becomes larger, your career becomes more important, and "visiting the spa" after work becomes something to pass the time, the convenience really becomes evident.

I've read a lot of reviews of people complaining about the game not working. It is obvious that all of The Sims games have been demanding for your computer to run, but I've never really "stuck to the rules" within requirements. I didn't check mine, but I just know that I have a laptop of decent quality and with Windows 7, and it works like a dream. If you are expecting to run this game from an old laptop or PC then expect to be disappointed.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this game, not to compare it to previous Sims, but to have a go at something else, and have fun with something different.

When i first played The Sims 3 i wasn't amazed. The fact you lacked loading screens and could go around a fully synced neighbourhood was amazing but it didn't seem worth a full game. Plus after all the expansions that 2 had i think that this game seemed empty.

Anyway i'm converted now. After really delving into the gameplay and doing everything that this game has to offer i'm really impressed. A definitely improvement from 2 no question. It just takes some getting used to.

Expansion wise i know they will only make the game better. I've got Late Night, Outdoor Stuff and High End Loft Stuff due to arrive today and i'm sure it'll enhance my gameplay.

I've recently heard too that they're bringing out two more EPs this year. The Sims Generations will come out in May and will add so much more to the family experience. Anddd The Sims Unleashed comes out in October and will add the long awaited pets! Cats, dogs, horses, reptiles are the choices apparently. They're also adding in wild deer and raccoons so i can't wait for that. These upcoming expansions will defnitely be the best and add that umph that this game is missing!
Just need the magic and weather from 2 and this game will be perfect!!

i think there have been a lot of great additions to this game since the sims 2! and im sure it will keep getting better as more expansions are realeased!

the way you can travel to a location without all the boring loading screens is a great thing! makes the gameplay smooth and more enjoyable!

the creation tool is superb! you can add any colour to anything! so you can create a green toilet if wanted! you can also put things diaggonaly now which is great!

overall i really do like this game although it would of been nice to have a little bit more included without the expansions! but still very good without

I wasn't sure about this at first as it was weird to get used to and it didn't seem that different from sims 2.. but after playing it a bit I found all the really awesome new stuff you can do :D really like the graphics, the no loading screens when moving around the map, the way you can customize your own features, clothes and furniture etc. using the colour wheel.. I would definitely recommend this but obviously it takes quite a bit of memory to run so the only negative is that it can crash sometimes..

  Quite disapointed

Got this game for my Daughter for Christmas. After the first day it started crashing and it can also freeze at times. Why do EA release games with very common problems. Would not recommend it. As My Daughter has lost a lot of progress whilst playing. Seems like a waste of time playing it.
