Review

Portal is a new single-player game from Valve, creators of Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has earned over 40 awards, including 15 Game of the Year honours, and offers gamers hours of unique gameplay.

The game is designed to change the way players approach, manipulate and surmise the possibilities in a given environment; similar to how Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun innovated new ways to leverage an object in any given situation.

Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to manoeuvre objects, and themselves, through space.

This game really is a refreshing change to what is currently churned out these days. Intelligently designed levels and the storyline very cleverly unfolds. This really is a work of art in my opinion. Can't rate it highly enough. Only one drawback is the length of the game. Its very possible to finish it within a few days but developers are adding new maps all the time so that is no longer a problem.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars In my opinion, the best puzzle game of all time.

Portal is by far one of the best games of all time, even when you've heard so many things about this game before buying it you are constantly surprised by certain things. GlaDOS is by far one of the most believable villains in any game I've played in a very long time. It can one minute be slow paced thinking and the next you're moving very quick through your portals....

One of the best features of this game is the audio... the voices used are simply outstanding and the music is probably the best I've heard in any video game.. especially at 4000 degrees Kelvin (You'll see what I mean ^_^)

Don't like puzzle games? Buy it any way and I'm pretty positive you'll enjoy it.

Unbelivable

Brilliant! if somewhat short! its just such a great game!
i downloaded mine off Steam rather than order the game, or buying the orange box (didnt see the point seems i own all but team fortress 2!), but it did only take me just under 2 hours to complete, but it is SUCH a great game! extremely funny, and very well made, and the credits, which are mostly ignored in most games, are even funnier!
only 1 other game manages to come close to the portal concept, and general confusingness of being flipped around, and thats Prey, tho thats based on the doom3 engine, but its similar only you dont have a portal gun, and its not so funny, but you do get to shoot people, well aliens, and has a much longer and quite epic emotional story line!
still, portal is better.

The Cake Is A Lie!
